5th International Congress on Industrial and Applied Mathematics, ICIAM 2003

This Congress will have a broad scope and truly international participation. As the first
global Congress on this theme in the 21st Century, ICIAM 2003 provides a magnificent
opportunity to focus on the future role of applied mathematics - in its own right and as a
contributor to other fields of endeavour. The Congress will emphasise both research
and industrial applications.
Goals for ICIAM 2003
Arrange the major conference, worldwide, for industrial and applied mathematics
during the current four-year period. Provide a forum to describe new and emerging
research developments in applied mathematics and its industrial applications. Provide a
special focus on applied mathematics in the Pacific Rim and South-East Asia. Provide a
high-profile activity to enhance the lustre of applied mathematics, as perceived by the
public, research collaborators, end-users and politicians; Contribute to the worldwide
development of applied mathematics, including development of the International
Council for Industrial and Applied Mathematics. Attract at least 2000 delegates, and
help them develop valuable international connections. Ensure the Congress is well
managed, with a balanced budget.
