The Tenth International Symposium will be held in beautiful Quebec City ( 2 hours<br />
north of Montreal, Canada), from July 7-11, 2003. This Symposium series is the prime<br />
forum for plasticity research dissemination as usually more than 250 scientists from<br />
around the world participate in this conference. The symposium will focus on<br />
computational plasticity, plasticity of emerging materials (nanocrystalline solids, thin<br />
films, biomaterials, polymers etc.) and micromechanics of plastic deformation and<br />
texture evolution, including materials science aspects, and elastic-plastic damage<br />
mechanics. However, presentations in any area of plasticity will be welcomed,<br />
especially experimental and materials science studies related to plastic deformation.<br />
Thus topics of interest include plastic and viscoplastic behaviors of single crystals and<br />
polycrystalline metals, nanocrystalline metals, thin films, biomaterials, ceramics, ice,<br />
rocks and soils, composite materials and polymers, as well as plasticity aspects of<br />
damage, failure and fracture mechanics. Symposium presentations must be original<br />
unpublished research related to experimental, numerical or theoretical analyses of the<br />
inelastic behavior of solids subjected to quasi-static, dynamic or cyclic thermomechanical<br />
loading.<br />
A three page summary/compact paper will be printed in a proceedings book and<br />
available at the symposium for quick dissemination of your research. The full-length<br />
papers are expected to be published in the International Journal of Plasticity after the<br />
standard peer review process. Please see the internet. The full-length papers should be<br />
submitted for publication consideration anytime from six months before to six months<br />
after the symposium. We expect this symposium to be as outstanding, both technically<br />
and socially, as its predecessors, including the one in Whistler (July 2000) and Aruba<br />
(Jan. <strong>2002</strong>). We believe your participation will definitely contribute towards this goal.<br />
Presentations and Registration fee<br />
The presentations will include invited lecture and invited presentations. The invited<br />
lecture of 40 minutes duration is expected to give an overview of the subject with<br />
almost 20 minutes being devoted to the results of other researchers. Invited<br />
presentations will be allotted 20 minutes. All presentations, including invited lectures,<br />
must contain a significant amount of unpublished results. A session of two hours will<br />
include one lecture and four invited talks. Overhead and computer projectors will be<br />
available for your presentation.<br />
