The 4th International Conference on Physical and Numerical Simulation of
Materials Processing
Shanghai, China
The 4th International Conference on Physical and Numerical Simulation of Materials
Processing, co-sponsored by 14 societies and universities including USA, Japan, UK,
Germany, Russia, Korea, France, Canada, Australia, Finland, Denmark, Hong Kong,
Taiwan, Mainland China, will be held at Novotel Shanghai Yuan Lin Hotel from May
26-29, 2003. The Novotel Hotel is located at the center of Shanghai, the biggest city of
China where APEC'2001 Conference has been held successfully. Estimably, About 300
delegates from 30 countries will attend the conference. The conference will provide a
forum for exchanges of fresh ideas, information, and presentation of papers dealing
with physical and numerical simulation as well as their applications on materials
thermomechanical processing.

Abstract deadline: July 30, 2002
Notification acceptance of the abstract: August 30, 2002
Manuscript deadline: December 25, 2002
Topics
- Physical simulation and numerical modeling of materials and thermomechanical
processing,
- The materials include: HSLA steels, TMCP steels, stainless steels, aluminum alloys,
titanium alloys, composites, intermetallics, ceramics, polymer, and other advanced
materials, such as ultrafine grain materials and nanometer materials,
- The industrial processes could include: welding, heat treatment, stamping, rolling,
casting/continuous-casting, forging, extrusion, spraying and other advanced
technologies,
- Primary theories of physical simulation and numerical modelling,
- Development and application of numerical simulation software,
- Prospects of physical simulation and numerical modeling on materials and
thermomechanical processing in 21st century.
All abstracts of papers (about 300 words), the manuscripts, and the presentations(oral or
poster) are requested in English and should be sent to the organization committee of the
conference. All full papers in English will be published in the Journal of Materials
Science and Technology in 2003. After the conference, the organization committee will
arrange a tour program for participant and companions to visit Shanghai city, Baoshan
Iron & Steel Group, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Volkswagen Automotive Company
and Zhouzhuang, the first ancient town of the south of the Yantze River of China.
