Directives are statements of policy or procedure meant to guide
Headquarters, field organizations, or the public. They include handbooks,
headquarters circulars, kits, labels, management instructions, manuals,
notices, the Postal Bulletin, posters, publications, signs, and tags.
Destinations and Quantities
The Headquarters organization that originates a directive or form decides
which offices will receive copies and how many each will get. Most directives
are distributed to facilities (Post Offices, bulk mail centers, etc.) in fixed
quantities. For example, if one bulk mail center (BMC) receives 10 copies of a
directive, usually all BMCs will receive 10 copies. You may order additional
copies from the supply source (see How to Order the Document You Need,
Chapter 1).
Address Corrections
The National Customer Support Center in Memphis, Tennessee, maintains
the file that produces labels used to send directives to Postal Service
facilities. To make an address correction, a Postal Service organization
should notify:
