Office Report
Habif Mimarlik, Istanbul
Nature of the office.
Habif Mimarlik is a subsidiary firm of Doga Gayrimenkul (Doga Developers), albeit with different
offices. Despite being primarily an architectural office, it deals mostly with interior design
projects. Doga Gayrimenkul was a partnership firm with 2 partners, but the accounts of the
architectural office are handled separately.
The proprietor had hired four architects. The projects were divided according to the scale of
the projects. The small projects were given to each of them, on which they worked upon single
handedly from the beginning to the end, with minimal inputs from the main architect himself.
In the bigger projects, some of the architects worked together. Each of them was free to bring
their own projects to the office as well.
There were 7 workstations in the office, 4 for the architects, 1 for the receptionist 1 for the
accountant and 1 was used by the chartered accountant once a week.
Structure of the
office.
Perception
The participation of the architect was very minimal in the firm. All the projects were handle by
a group of trusted subsidiary architects, who took all design decisions in all the projects. The
designs hence developed do not seem to be from the same office. Each project had its own
language, as desired by the architects and, in many cases, the client domination.
But being a small office, it worked quite well, and in co-ordination. All the permanent employees
were women. This office gave a platform for young architects to work in both the ways,
independently and in a group as an office.
