CONCLUSIONS The walled edge was not just a physical entity, but a definition of the city‟s existence, the extent of its power, the meaning of its friendship with other cities. This edge later continued to get redefined in other forms; traces of it always remained in the footprint of a city, in its roads, layout, cultural associations to the edge.
