Notices to Purchasers<br />

Credit/Debit Card purchases<br />

Payment for horse purchases may be made by credit card or debit* card, subject to bank<br />

approval. A surcharge of 1.5% will be applied for credit cards while debit card transactions will<br />

be processed without charge.<br />

If you <strong>in</strong>tend to utilise this method of payment, please advise your credit/debit card provider of<br />

your <strong>in</strong>tentions prior to your arrival at the Sales. This should reduce the time taken by the credit/<br />

debit card provider to authorise the transaction when it is processed. Alternatively,<br />

pre-authorisation can be obta<strong>in</strong>ed prior to mak<strong>in</strong>g a purchase. For further <strong>in</strong>formation on<br />

this procedure, please speak to a <strong>Tattersalls</strong> representative at the Accounts desk.<br />

From February 2006, <strong>in</strong> accordance with new UK bank<strong>in</strong>g requirements, all credit and<br />

debit card transactions will have to be authorised by the cardholder us<strong>in</strong>g their PIN number.<br />

Please ensure that you have memorised your PIN number.<br />

* Visa, Mastercard and most debit cards accepted. Unfortunately we are unable to process American Express or Laser Cards.<br />

Purchaser payments <strong>in</strong> cash/travellers’ cheques<br />

As stated <strong>in</strong> note 21 <strong>in</strong> the “Guidance for Purchasers”, <strong>Tattersalls</strong> are pleased to accept cash<br />

payments <strong>in</strong> settlement of amounts due for the purchase of bloodstock. As required by law it will<br />

be necessary for Purchasers to provide additional <strong>in</strong>formation when mak<strong>in</strong>g cash or travellers’<br />

cheque payments of £10,000 or more:<br />

(i) proof of identity - either passport or driv<strong>in</strong>g licence with photograph and personal <strong>in</strong>formation: &<br />

(ii) evidence of home address - utility bill or formal correspondence with full name and address details.<br />

(iii) provenance of funds<br />

It will be necessary for <strong>Tattersalls</strong> to take copies of the documentation provided and to reta<strong>in</strong> the<br />

copies on file.<br />

Customers are recommended to refer to the HM Government website<br />

(http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Foreigntravel/Br<strong>in</strong>g<strong>in</strong>ggoodsorcash<strong>in</strong>totheUK)<br />

for the procedural requirements when carry<strong>in</strong>g cash <strong>in</strong> and out of the United K<strong>in</strong>gdom.<br />
