Behavioural responses to <strong>oil</strong> <strong>palm</strong> crop<br />

Individual species responses to <strong>oil</strong> <strong>palm</strong> were <strong>in</strong>vestigated by trapp<strong>in</strong>g species<br />

occurr<strong>in</strong>g close to the <strong>oil</strong> <strong>palm</strong> crop <strong>and</strong> us<strong>in</strong>g radio track<strong>in</strong>g to follow their<br />

movements. Dur<strong>in</strong>g the study, radio collars were fitted to one Sumatran tiger (adult<br />

male), one sun bear (young male), one tapir (adult female) <strong>and</strong> two wild pigs (young<br />

adults). All <strong>in</strong>dividuals were released at their trapp<strong>in</strong>g po<strong>in</strong>t, with the exception <strong>of</strong> the<br />

bear which was caught <strong>in</strong> a plantation village as part <strong>of</strong> a conflict resolution operation<br />

with Jambi BKSDA <strong>and</strong> translocated to the neighbour<strong>in</strong>g forest.<br />
