Owens Community College<br />

To accommodate <strong>the</strong><br />

needs of students, <strong>the</strong> college,<br />

within <strong>the</strong> last nine<br />

years, also opened an $11<br />

million Center for Fine and<br />

Performing Arts on <strong>the</strong><br />

Toledo-area Campus. In<br />

2007, Owens unveiled a<br />

$20.5 million Center for<br />

Emergency Preparedness.<br />

The Center is <strong>the</strong> only<br />

state-of-<strong>the</strong>-art facility of<br />

this magnitude within <strong>the</strong><br />

Midwest.<br />

Benches added to Town Pump Sculpture site<br />

Two benches were added to <strong>the</strong> Kleeberger Town Pump Sculpture located at <strong>the</strong> Commodore<br />

Building in <strong>Perrysburg</strong>. These benches were generously donated. One bench was<br />

provided <strong>by</strong> memorial funds from family and friends in his memory. A second bench was<br />

provided <strong>by</strong> <strong>the</strong> All Thumbs Garden Club of <strong>Perrysburg</strong> to honor his work.<br />

Volunteers from First United Methodist Church Men’s Group–Dan Kronfield, John Vargo<br />

and Tim Birthisel–installed <strong>the</strong> benches. The task included assembly and placement. They<br />

were assisted in placing <strong>the</strong> heavy benches <strong>by</strong> <strong>the</strong> school grounds staff during <strong>the</strong> lunch<br />

break. <strong>Perrysburg</strong> Collision loaned workers a hex wrench which was needed complete <strong>the</strong><br />

task. Lee Kleeberger cleaned <strong>the</strong> statue.<br />
