Schudel, 97, of Bryan, Ohio, and formerly of Swanton, Ohio, died Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Bryan Community Hospital. She was born in Perrysburg, on November 11, 1914, to James and Emma (Artz) Stickles. She married Herman Schudel. She once worked for the Rossford Ordnance and as a substitute mail carrier for many years for two rural routes in Perrysburg. She is survived by her sons, Darrell Schudel of West Unity, Ohio, Paul (Mary) Schudel of Albion, Michigan, and James (Kathy) Schudel of Swanton; four grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and son-in-law, Lawrence Soles of Stryker, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman, on October 2, 1994. She also was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Soles; granddaughter, Jenny Schudel; three brothers and one sister. Funeral services were held Monday, April 16, at Zoar Lutheran Church, Perrysburg, Burial was in Troy Township Cemetery, Luckey, Ohio. Jeffery Walker is one of five local men who recently took the next step toward the Catholic priesthood. On March 22, Toledo Bishop Leonard Blair ordained five men as transitional deacons during a ceremony at Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral in Toledo. Mr. Walker currently serves as pastoral intern at St. Rose Catholic Church. A transitional deacon is a man studying to become a priest. About a year before priesthood ordination, he is ordained to the diaconate, receiving the faculties of deacon in the church. These faculties include proclaiming the Gospel, preaching homilies at Mass, officiating at the sacrament of marriage, and administering the sacrament of baptism. The five men are scheduled to be ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Toledo in June 2013. Rossford Cub Scout Pack to hold beverage can round up April 20 Rossford Cub Scout Pack 43 will participate in the 14th annual Earth Day Aluminum Can Roundup in conjunction with the ACBC (Aluminum Cans for Burned Children) of Northwest Ohio. These cans will be recycled and all proceeds benefit the children admitted to the burn unit at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. Cans can be dropped off at Glenwood Elementary on Friday, April 20, until 7 p.m. Containers will be located in the back parking lot area closest to the playground. Owens to host annual honors program symposium and medallion ceremony Owens Community College students pursuing academic studies at the highest level will have the opportunity to showcase their research and creative work in multiple disciplines as the academic institution hosts its second annual Honors Program Symposium and Medallion Ceremony on Friday, April 20. The Honors Program Symposium and Medallion Ceremony will occur from 9 a.m. to noon, in Founders Hall on the campus on Oregon Road in Perrysburg Township. The event is free and open to the public. “Owens Community College is extremely proud to once again host an event which affords students the opportunity to share their academic findings with both the campus community and the general public through oral presentations,” said Dr. Russell Bodi, Owens professor of English and Honors Program director. “The students participating in the second annual Honors Program Symposium and Medallion Ceremony are leaders who have challenged their intellectual growth at the highest level. The Honors Program at Owens was founded with the overall mission of providing a challenging educational opportunity, above and beyond the standard curriculum, for exceptional students who strive for academic excellence. More than 100 students are members of the current Owens Honors Program on the Toledo-area and Findlay-area campuses. To be considered for admission into the selective program, a currently enrolled student must have a minimum 3.2 grade point average with 12 credits completed at Owens. married Herman Schudel.<br />

She once worked for <strong>the</strong><br />

Rossford Ordnance and as a<br />

substitute mail carrier for<br />

many years for two rural<br />

routes in <strong>Perrysburg</strong>.<br />

She is survived by her<br />

sons, Darrell Schudel <strong>of</strong><br />

West Unity, Ohio, Paul<br />

(Mary) Schudel <strong>of</strong> Albion,<br />

Michigan, and James<br />

(Kathy) Schudel <strong>of</strong> Swanton;<br />

four grandchildren, 13<br />

“Meet Me at TMA,” a<br />

free monthly program, on<br />

The program is entitled<br />

“En Plein Air Painting.”<br />

Participants will discuss <strong>the</strong><br />

motives and consequences<br />

for Impressionist artists taking<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir art outdoors.<br />

“Meet Me at TMA” is<br />

designed to provide a fun,<br />

meaningful experience for<br />

museum visitors who have<br />

mild memory loss.<br />

15, <strong>2012</strong>. She was born December<br />

Irene (Fernandez) Johnson in<br />

Toledo. She was a sophomore<br />

at <strong>Perrysburg</strong> High School. She<br />

was an active soccer player, enjoyed<br />

scrapbooking, hanging<br />

out with her friends, shopping,<br />

and entertaining children. She<br />

was a member <strong>of</strong> Blessed John<br />

XXIII Catholic Church in <strong>Perrysburg</strong>.<br />

She is survived by her parents;<br />

twin bro<strong>the</strong>r, Isaac; paternal<br />

grandmo<strong>the</strong>r, Beverly<br />

Johnson; aunts and uncles,<br />

The Rossford Eagles Aerie<br />

and auxiliary <strong>of</strong>ficers will<br />

hold <strong>the</strong>ir meeting this week.<br />

The ladies will meet on<br />

Wednesday, <strong>April</strong> <strong>18</strong>, at 7:30<br />

p.m., and <strong>the</strong> Aerie men on<br />

Thursday, <strong>April</strong> 19, at 8 p.m.<br />

There will be an Aerie <strong>of</strong>ficers<br />

meeting at 7 p.m. Both<br />

will hold nominations for <strong>of</strong>ficers.<br />

This Saturday will be a<br />

50/60 dance from 8 p.m. until<br />

five local men who recently<br />

took <strong>the</strong> next step toward<br />

<strong>the</strong> Catholic priesthood.<br />

five men as transitional<br />

deacons during a<br />

ceremony at Our Lady,<br />

Queen <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Most Holy<br />

Rosary Ca<strong>the</strong>dral in Toledo.<br />

Mr. Walker currently<br />

serves as pastoral intern at<br />

St. Rose Catholic Church.<br />

A transitional deacon is a<br />

man studying to become a<br />

priest. About a year before<br />

priesthood ordination, he is<br />

ordained to <strong>the</strong> diaconate,<br />

receiving <strong>the</strong> faculties <strong>of</strong><br />

deacon in <strong>the</strong> church. These<br />

faculties include proclaiming<br />

<strong>the</strong> Gospel, preaching<br />

homilies at Mass, <strong>of</strong>ficiating<br />

at <strong>the</strong> sacrament <strong>of</strong> marriage,<br />

and administering <strong>the</strong><br />

sacrament <strong>of</strong> baptism.<br />

The five men are scheduled<br />

to be ordained to <strong>the</strong><br />

priesthood for <strong>the</strong> Diocese<br />

<strong>of</strong> Toledo in June 2013.<br />
