Councilor Ermie
said.
Councilman Todd
Grayson told the committee
he has “a fundamental
problem with double dipping.”
Councilor Ermie said
the committee did not take
any action on the issue.
Other Business
In other business, council:
•Authorized an agreement
with Regulatory
Compliance Consultants to
develop, implement and
maintain the 2012 safety
program including training
for the public service division,
at a cost not to exceed
$33,400.
•Approved an agreement
with the Arcadis engineering
firm, not to exceed
$25,000, for revised engineering
and designs for
Cherry Street sewer district
209.
Arcadis’ preliminary
work discovered that property
owners could eliminate
the sanitary flow in an
existing private combined
sewer at the rear of the
properties and direct other
flow into a new storm
sewer on Mulberry Street.
As a result of this
change, there would be a
single sewer connection for
all three businesses in the
area; a deep sewer on Indiana
Avenue would be
replaced with a much shallower
sewer outside the
paved area, resulting in less
inconvenience to motorists;
would preserve vehicle
access via Indiana to two of
the properties; and reduce
overall construction costs.
•Approved updates to
the city’s sewer master plan
and cost recovery plan,
affecting development currently
pending along
Roachton and Hull Prairie
roads and State Route 25.
Arcadis prepared the
updates, which are on file
for public review at the
city’s planning and zoning
office.
•Renewed a memo of
understanding with Perrysburg
Amateur Baseball/
S o f t b a l l C o m m i s s i o n
(PABSC) effective through
TARTA will end service in Perrysburg
➧Continued from page 1
on their indefensible position.
I hope they change
their minds. It is not too
late.
“In the meantime, we are
focused on making sure that
the alternative plan for 2013
and beyond is cost effective
and responsive to consumer
needs. To that end, things
are going well and are on
time and budget. I am excited
for the future and I hope
that we can find a fair resolution
to the end-of-year gap
issue.”
Rep. Gardner stated he
believes TARTA should
serve Perrysburg residents
through the end of the year.
“TARTA will receive
property taxes from Perrysburg
citizens for all of 2012,
yet it refuses to discuss a
contractual arrangement,
which is permitted by law,
whereby citizens would
continue to be served for the
entire year. If this is all
about truly serving people,
this will not be TARTA’s
final decision,” he said. “No
matter what, I will continue
to support alternatives that
are fair for the citizens of
Perrysburg and any other
community that seeks better
services at lower costs.”
Mayor Nelson Evans
stated that the city will continue
to work with Representative
Gardner’s office to
address the issue legislatively.
“Other alternatives are
being explored should those
efforts fail,” he added.
LifeWalk set for Saturday, May 12
Path to Life, a local nonprofit,
will host its 13th annual
LifeWalk on Saturday,
May 12, at 10 a.m., at the
baseball shelter at Pearson
Park in Oregon.
The event is open to the
public, and all proceeds benefit
Path to Life, an organization
which operates Hope
Home, a maternity residence
for pregnant women in need.
Path to Life was established
in 2000 with the goal
of promoting life-affirming
choices to single women who
are dealing with unplanned
pregnancies and lack the
resources to support a healthy
pregnancy by providing temporary
housing, case management
and supportive services.
From 2000 to 2008, Path
to Life provided shelter and
pregnancy and post-birth
supportive services to more
than 70 single women who
did not have the resources to
support themselves or an
infant child. In early 2009,
Path to Life temporarily
ceased operations to reorganize
as an independent
non-profit agency.
The LifeWalk will be held
rain or shine.
