Strings and <strong>the</strong> <strong>Perrysburg</strong> Junior High School AO Orchestra,<br />

pictured, recently presented a concert at St.<br />

Rose Church. It featured <strong>the</strong> following selections: “Music<br />

from The Royal Fireworks,” by Handel; “Miniature Symphony,”<br />

by Meyer; “Concertino,” by Del Borgo; “Theme<br />

and Variations,” by Haydn performed by senior Kaitlynn<br />

McCamey, harpist; “Two Daughters,” by Silva;<br />

“Mozartante,” by Swayze featuring soloists Julia Xiong,<br />

violin, and Oliver Durham, cello. O<strong>the</strong>r selections in-<br />

The Frank School third grade Brownie Troop was recently educated on reptiles by Maureen Schell <strong>of</strong> Eco Discovery.<br />

She instructed <strong>the</strong> girls on <strong>the</strong> characteristics <strong>of</strong> reptiles, shared a story about a turtle, and introduced <strong>the</strong> girls to an<br />

eastern box turtle.<br />

The Polish-American<br />

Community <strong>of</strong> Toledo<br />

(PACT) is holding its third<br />

annual Kielbasa Cook-<strong>of</strong>f on<br />

Saturday, <strong>April</strong> 13.<br />

The event, open to <strong>the</strong><br />

public, will take place from 1<br />

to 6 p.m., at <strong>the</strong> Blessed<br />

Sacrament Church hall,<br />

Bellevue Road, Toledo.<br />

The cook-<strong>of</strong>f features<br />

homemade kielbasa from old<br />

family recipes.<br />

Amateur kielbasa makers<br />

from across <strong>the</strong> area will<br />

compete for <strong>the</strong> title <strong>of</strong><br />

“Toledo’s Kielbasa King or<br />

Queen.”<br />

The public is invited to<br />

sample <strong>the</strong> recipes and <strong>the</strong>n<br />

vote for <strong>the</strong>ir favorites.<br />

Last year 12 contestants<br />

battled for <strong>the</strong> bragging rights<br />

<strong>of</strong> creating <strong>the</strong> best homemade<br />

kielbasa, and Shawn<br />

Zaborksi’s Polish Village kielbasa<br />

received <strong>the</strong> most votes.<br />

No commercial entries are<br />

part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> cook-<strong>of</strong>f.<br />

and sou<strong>the</strong>ast Michigan are<br />

Since <strong>the</strong> 1870s, <strong>the</strong><br />

Portage Holiness Camp in<br />

Portage, Ohio, has provided a<br />

ga<strong>the</strong>ring place for Christian<br />

fellowship. The program will<br />

look at its long history in<br />

northwest Ohio. Light refreshments<br />

and tea will be<br />

served before <strong>the</strong> program.<br />
