Toledo Animal Shelter Auxiliary celebrates<br />
summer ending with annual picnic<br />
The Toledo Animal<br />
Shelter Auxiliary (TASA)<br />
celebrated the ending <strong>of</strong><br />
summer with a picnic held<br />
recently at Belmont Country<br />
Club in <strong>Perrysburg</strong>.<br />
Boasting its largest<br />
crowd for the annual<br />
event, auxiliary members<br />
and guests enjoyed mingling,<br />
a silent auction, raffles<br />
and a picnic buffet.<br />
The mission <strong>of</strong> the auxiliary<br />
is to promote community<br />
awareness, education<br />
and financial support<br />
for the Toledo Animal<br />
Shelter Association.<br />
Founded in 1948 and<br />
reorganized in 1963, the<br />
auxiliary continues today<br />
as the fund-raising arm <strong>of</strong><br />
the shelter.<br />
Auxiliary <strong>of</strong>ficers<br />
include Nancy Ligibel,<br />
president; Grace Christopher,<br />
vice president; Pat<br />
Osborn, corresponding<br />
secretary; Barbara Brown,<br />

The Toledo Animal<br />
Shelter is located at 640<br />
Wyman Road, Toledo. Its<br />
mission is “to care for and<br />
provide temporary and<br />
indefinite shelter and care<br />
for homeless and abandoned<br />
dogs and cats by<br />
promoting and sponsoring<br />
animal welfare education<br />
programs, adoptions, preventive<br />
veterinary care,<br />
and a mandatory<br />
spay/neuter program, with<br />
emphasis on a ‘no kill’<br />
policy for its animals.”<br />

Owens Community College<br />
students will have the<br />
unique opportunity to showcase<br />
their artistic welding<br />
talents in Center for Fine<br />
and Performing Arts as the<br />
Walter E. Terhune Art<br />
Gallery serves as host to the<br />
first-ever artistic welding<br />
student exhibition titled<br />
“Steel,” September 18 to<br />
October 19.<br />
In addition, the college<br />
will host a free reception for<br />
the exhibit on Friday, September<br />
21 from 6 to 8 p.m.,<br />
in the Walter E. Terhune Art<br />
Gallery. Artwork will be on<br />
display both within the Walter<br />
E. Terhune Art Gallery<br />
and in the outside courtyard<br />
adjacent the Center for Fine<br />
and Performing Arts. Owens<br />
is located on Oregon Road<br />
in <strong>Perrysburg</strong> Township.<br />
“The Owens Center for<br />
Fine and Performing Arts is<br />
