Parade of Homes scheduled for September 21-30 The Home Builders Association of Greater Toledo, Inc. will present the 2012 Fall Scattered Site Parade of Homes: “Imagine the Possibilities” September 21 to 30. Homes will be open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The event features 19 newly constructed homes scattered throughout northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. “This year we have several new features in the Parade line up including an Outdoor Living Showcase and a Lake Erie, waterfront condo perfect for boaters. German-American program set The Wood County Historical Center and Museum, in partnership with the Department of German, Russian and East Asian Languages at Bowling Green State University, will present its annual German-American program on Wednesday, October 3, at 7 p.m., at the Wood County Historical Center and Museum, 13660 County Home Road, Bowling Green. Local author Michael Mc- Master will present his book, “Henry County in the Great War: German-Americans, Patriots, and Loyalty.” This book details the loyalty trials imposed on the German- Americans during World War One in Henry County, Ohio. PERRYSBURG MESSENGER JOURNAL — September 19, 2012 — Page 11 Northwest Ohio Life Fair to be Sept. 23 at St. Rose Area residents are invited to attend the fourth annual Northwest Ohio Life Fair on Sunday, September 23, to learn more about the local prolife movement. The event will be held from 1-4 p.m., at the St. Rose School gymnasium, 217 East Front Street. The public is invited to the free event. Keynote speaker will be Shawn Carney, national campaign director for 40 Days for Life, a prayer campaign to end abortion that has taken place in 440 cities around the world, including more than 525,000 people and 15,000 church congregations. The next 40 Days for Life will take place in the Toledo area from September 26 through November 4. Also appearing at the Life Fair will be John Morales, executive producer of “The 40 Film,” a documentary on the heated issue of abortion in the United States. “We’re hoping that people Highway Patrol to offer Community Shield program The Ohio State Highway Patrol has developed Community Shield, a training program designed specifically for the general public to help us Contribute to a Safer Ohio. Similar in concept to the successful Truck Shield program, Community Shield provides interested members of the general public with specific training on how to identify possible criminal behavior on Ohio’s roadways, and tools for contacting the Patrol at #677 in order to help us deploy troopers and resources to the problem area. Community Shield training, which will be delivered by Patrol officers in a onehour training block during scheduled presentations, consists of instruction in impaired driver detection, criminal patrol, homeland security and human trafficking. Training is geared towards community members to assist local law enforcement and Troopers while they are on the road as extra sets of eyes and ears. A class will be offered on Saturdays, at 9 a.m., beginning October 14, at the Bowling Green Post.
