He had worked at the Gulf State Paper Company for 14 years, retiring in 1980. He was born to Charley and Cora (Chapman) Kise in Louisa, Kentucky, on February 24, 1935. Mr. Kise is survived by his partner of 47 years, Nancy Kennon; sisters, Hazel (Bobby) Cooper, Kathy “Bunny” (Larry) West; brothers, Billy (Barbara) Kise and Raymond Kise. He was preceded in death by brothers Donald and Eugene Kise. Graveside services were held on Wednesday, December 26, at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home. gh Obituaries •MARY ANNE COUSINO Mary Anne Cousino of the Point/Shoreland Community died on Monday, December 24, 2012, in Hospice of Northwest Ohio at the age of 79. She had worked as a secretary for the Lucas County Board of Elections retiring in 1994. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, worked as a Girl Scout leader and room mother, both at St. John’s while her children attended, and she enjoyed counted cross stitch. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Cousino is survived by her husband of 58 years, Charles “Chuck” Cousino; children, Lynn (Tim) Howard, Tom (Beth) Cousino, Mark Cousino and Michelle (Bob) Hayes; 11 grandchildren; 17 greatgrandchildren, and sister, Patricia Sotak. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Chuch on Friday, December 28, with Fr. Anthony Borgia officiating. Entombment was in Resurrection Cemetery. David R. Hoffman, 76, of the Point/Shoreland community, died in St. Luke’s Hospital on Monday, December 24, 2012. She was born to Andrew and Grace Schmacher in Chicago, Illinois, on May 21, 1936. She enjoyed working puzzle books, watching cooking shows on TV and taking rides in the car. Her greatest joy however was taking care of her family being their wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Frederick Hoffman; sons, Frederick (Sue) Hoffman and Gerald (Lisa) Hoffman; grandchildren, Emily, Ellen and Jackie. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, a life member of V.F.W. Post No. 3265 and had worked for Libbey Glass for 28 years, retiring in 1976. Surviving are brother, Allen (Helen) Wilhelm; sister, Shirley Metzger; nieces and nephews, Diana Clasen, Linda Osterman, Karen Griffin, James Metzger, Thomas Metzger, Kathleen Mason and Janet Coykendall. Contributions in her memory should be made to Messiah Lutheran Church, 4703 North Summit Street, Toledo, Ohio 43611. gh •LOUISE GILLES Louise Bauroth Gilles, 85, died Saturday, December 22, 2012. She was the first in her family to be born in the United States on January 10, 1927 in Springfield, Ohio. She graduated from Woodward High School in 1945. She worked for many years at Home Building and Savings in the loan department and then at Libbey-Owens- Ford as secretary to the design department. She married Louis Gilles on August 25, 1956. She was a 50+ year member of Messiah Lutheran Church and in the 1970s served as a greeter. She also made a poinsettia decoration for the church cross that was used for several years at Christmas time. She volunteered as librarian at Kleis Elementary and Point Place Junior High Schools while her children attended. In her retirement years, she and her husband traveled to all 50 states and Canada. She also loved to crochet and made hats, scarves and afghans for her family and friends. She is survived by her husband Louis; son, Louis (Harriet) Gilles; daughter, Diane (Thomas) Pauwels; sister-in-law Gertrude “Trudy” Bauroth, nephew, William (Sue) Bauroth; nieces Cindy (Jack) Dubrien and Bev Kelly; great-niece Michelle Cash; grandchildren Lydia Jones, Bryan (April) Gilles, Dorothy (Greg) Bosworth, Michelle Gilles, Allison and Zachary Pauwels, as well as eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son, David Louis Gilles; brother, Alfred Bauroth; sister, Ursula Ramer, brother in-law, John Ramer, and nephews Randy and Martin Ramer. There will be no visitation and entombment at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to donor’s choice in her memory. She taught 30 years in the Toledo Diocese Catholic Elementary schools and 19 years in the Quincy, Michigan Elementary schools, retiring June 1987. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, their Rosary Altar Society and the Point Place Senior Friendship Center. She is survived by sisters, Virginia Kelly of Manchester, Connecticut, and Bernadine (Fred) Abair of Erie, Michigan. Also survived by John and Patricia (Walters) Vidmar of Cincinnati; grandchildren Althea (Jeffery) Ohe of Minnesota, Donn (Brook) Vidmar of Cincinnati, great-grandchildren Torger, Sander and Maren Grace Ohe, and by Rev. Mary B. Vidmar (Floraday) of Lake Milton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters. She shared her love of books, playing cards and games with all, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grandnephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, December 27, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. A private family burial was held at Calvary Cemetery.
