Volunteer drivers needed
Neighbors helping neighbors in Perrysburg
When Perrysburg public
transportation ended on November
27, a Perrysburg resident
learned that a
grandmother raising her
granddaughters had no other
means of transportation for
shopping, medical appointments
or attending church
services.
The resident offered to
help–one neighbor helping
another neighbor. Because of
this neighbor, an additional
nine people have volunteered
to help community neighbors
by providing transportation

May ballot.
According to members of
the Perrysburg4Transit committee,
the need for volunteers
demonstrates the
long-term need for a small
public transit option.
The committee stated that
the utilization of volunteers is
a temporary fix to a long-term
problem.
Additional volunteers are
being coordinated by Perrysburg4Transit
and are needed
during the following time periods:
•7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday
Way Library continues its
free mobile device workshop
series with sessions
devoted to the iPad, Kindle
and Nook. These introductory
workshops are designed
especially to answer patrons’
questions about their
mobile devices, including
operation and how to use
them to get free books, audiobooks,
and movies from
the library.
Admission and refreshments
are free, and registration
is not required.

euchre fund-raiser on Jan. 26
The Golden Retriever Rescue
Resource organization is
holding its annual euchre tournament
in Rossford on Saturday,
January 26.
The public is invited to participate
in the tournament,
which will be at 6:30 p.m. at
the union hall, 727 Lime City
Road. There is a $10 entry fee,
and participants should bring
an appetizer or dessert to share

tournament with timed rounds

The United States Coast

The U.S. Department of
Homeland Security Office
for Bombing Prevention will
present an Improvised
Explosive Device (IED)
Awareness/Bomb Threat
Management Workshop on
February 6.
The program, hosted by
the Wood County Court Security
Department, will be
held from 8:30 a.m. to 12;30
p.m., at the Wood County
Common Pleas Courthouse,
Bowling Green.
The training will be provided
for court personal, law
enforcement, school leaders,
fire personnel and others
who may be involved with
bomb training prevention for
their buildings.
This free workshop improves
participants’ ability to
manage IED threats by outlining
specific safety precautions
associated with
explosive incidents and
bomb threats.
The workshop reinforces
an integrated combination of
planning, training, exercises,
and equipment acquisition in
order to maximize available
resources.
