A newly-formed law firm in Rossford has been established
in one of the city’s oldest buildings. The Heban,
Sommer & Murphree law firm has located its offices in
the historic 1917 Rossford Savings Bank at 200 Dixie
Highway.
The firm’s three partners are Kevin Heban, Gary Sommer
and Kent Murphree. They are joined by attorneys
Melissa Purpura, John Lewandowski and Gerald
Galernik, and legal assistants Sandra Wagener and Sally
Pietrasz.
Mr. Heban said he considered expanding his previous
firm when partner Gerry Galernik decided to move into
semi-retirement. He and Mr. Murphree, also a Rossford
resident, coach a travel baseball team together and discussed
the idea of forming a new firm.
Mr. Murphree, who was in private practice with Mr.
Sommer at another firm for the past 10 years, encouraged
him to join the two in launching the new firm.
“We found that we complement each other’s experiences
and practice areas,” Mr. Heban said.
While he concentrates on estate work, real estate, litigation,
bankruptcies and municipal law, his two new partners
focus on business, labor, corporate law and
negotiations.
“The practices just seemed to mesh together so we
could be a full-service firm,” Mr. Murphree said.
The firm provides law director and prosecutor services
to the City of Rossford, along with the villages of Waterville
and Whitehouse and soon Bloomdale, Mr. Heban
said.

Cold Stone Creamery strives to deliver “the ultimate
ice cream experience” with a combination of high quality
ice cream, a fun variety of mix-in toppings and a personalized
store experience.
Owner/operators Patrick McGrady and Jeff Foster
opened the ice cream store in October 2007 at the corner
of Crossroads Parkway and U.S. Route 20.
Cold Stone is known for its 20 specialty ice cream
creations such as Chocolate Devotion, Cookie Doughn’t
You Want Some, Oreo Overload, Cookie Mintster
and The Pie Who Loved Me.
All ice cream is made fresh daily and starts with their
sweet cream base. It is served in a dish or freshly-made
waffle bowl.
Customers also can select any combination of ingredients
to make their own creations. With numerous items
to mix in, Cold Stone claims there are 11.5 million combinations
to try.
“Ice cream is an indulgent product. And we understand
that customers are treating themselves,” said Mr.
McGrady, adding that cake batter and coffee are among
his favorite flavors.
Customers can watch as the crew members prepare
their ice cream dishes on a marble slab, refrigerated to 16
degrees.
This summer, Cold Stone is featuring “Gold Cone
the country.
Mr. Sommer, a Sylvania resident, said he was encouraged
to be part of a firm committed to local interests and
helping Rossford residents.
“We have a practice with a small-town atmosphere
doing work all over the country,” he explained.
Mr. Heban is a graduate of the University of Toledo
and UT law school. He has practiced law since 1985.
Mr. Murphree also is a UT and UT law school graduate.
He was a member of the UT men’s basketball team
and currently serves as an assistant varsity basketball
coach at Rossford High School.
Mr. Sommer is a Miami University graduate and graduated
from the UT law school. He also serves on the board
of zoning appeals in Sylvania.
Mr. Sommer oversaw renovation and design of the
firm’s building, which is located next to the Edward Ford
Memorial.
“We wanted to be faithful to what it would have looked
like in that day–we tried to stay time period appropriate,”
he explained.
The architecture, colors and furniture in the “tremendously
attractive building” are reminiscent of the 1930s
and 1940s. Interior woodwork, transom windows and slate
floors in the offices on the first and second floors contribute
to the professional atmosphere.
The attorneys said they are pleased with their offices–and
with the opportunity to locate their practice in
Rossford.
“We hope to continue to offer outstanding legal representation
to clients and to be a good business partner in
the community,” Mr. Heban said.
Flavors,” as refreshing fruit flavors of the month: key
lime, harvest peach and blueberry. Ice cream pies also
are available in the three special flavors through August.
Along with ice cream creations, Cold Stone offers
shakes, sundaes, smoothie drinks, ice cream cookie sandwiches
and ice cream cupcakes.
Ice cream cakes also are a favorite of many Cold
Stone customers, and there are 10 Signature cakes including
Peanut Butter Playground, Strawberry Passion,
Coffeehouse Crunch, and Cookies and Creamery.
“Cakes are available in the freezer and crew members
will be glad to add a name and birthday greeting to
the top before you take it home,” Mr. McGrady explained.
Cold Stone is a frequent contributor and participant in
numerous school and non-profit fund-raisers in Perrysburg
and Rossford.
Mr. McGrady, who is a member of the Rossford Business
Association, said he also caters ice cream social
events at area businesses providing a reward for employees
or as part of a company picnic. For more information

The store offers an outdoor patio for summer seating,
in addition to the numerous tables indoors.
Hours are Sunday through Thursday from noon to 10
p.m., and Friday and Saturday from noon to 11 p.m.

Dermatology Associates, Inc. has been providing
full-service, expert, quality medical care
for conditions affecting the skin, hair and nails
in Perrysburg for more than 17 years. The practice
is located in the Roachton Road Professional
Center at 12780 Roachton Road.
Dr. Christy Lorton founded the practice at the
River Road Medical Center in 1991, and Dr.
Beth Zavell joined her in 1994. They moved to
Perry Town Square in 1996 and moved to their
current location in the Roachton Road Professional
Center in 2008. Shannon Hammond,
Sherri Whitcomb and Joanna Ansted, licensed

of the skin care lines available at Ada are medically
based products that are unique to a store
that is associated with a physician’s office. Kim
Ando explains that “practicing within a dermatologist’s
office gives us access to resources not
available at a typical salon, along with being able
to work closely with the doctors.”
Dr. Lorton and Dr. Zavell are highly experienced
dermatologists, specializing in performing
total skin exams to detect and prevent skin cancer.
They treat skin cancer, pre-cancer, psoriasis,
dermatitis, acne, rosacea and warts. They perform
dermatologic surgery to remove nevi
(moles), skin cancer and cysts. The doctors also
offer cosmetic services including Botox, Juvederm,
Restylane and Perlane injections and removal
of skin tags and seborrheic keratoses (age
spots). Physician assistants, Shannon Hammond,
Sherri Whitcomb and Joanna Ansted, work side
by side with the doctors at Dermatology Associates.
