The City of Perrysburg and Perrysburg Township were founding members of the Wood County Economic Development Commission when this successful public-private partnership was born in 1993. In the subsequent 17 years the investment has paid off handsomely for the Perrysburg area. The WCEDC has attracted over 2,000 new jobs to the Perrysburg area (city and township), and an aggregate new investment of $1 billion. Amongst the more visible developments velopment efforts. Kazmaier’s Five Star Market is a familiar name in the Perrysburg community. Established in 1898, Kazmaier’s has been providing quality foods to Perrysburg residents for more than 100 years. Family owned and operated, Kazmaier’s has been at its present location at 127 East Second Street, since 1963. An additional store is located on Perrysburg-Holland Road in Maumee. Currently, there are 45 employees at the Perrysburg store. Kazmaier’s holds a unique place in the Perrysburg community. While a WCEDC member, Dillin Corp. was responsible for developing the highly successful Levis Commons “lifestyle center” which has become the retail landmark of Northwest Ohio. For eight of the organization’s 17 years, its President has been a City of Perrysburg (Chris Ewald, Lane Williamson) or Perrysburg Township (Bob Mack, Phil Rudolph, Jr.) resident. Additionally, the WCEDC has identified grant money for road upgrades, provided technical assistance to city and township administrations, and through its affiliation with Erie Basin Resource, Conservation, and Development Council of the USDA, brought grant money to the Way Public Library. The WCEDC maintains a staff of three—Executive Director Tom owner Allen Kazmaier. Kazmaier’s believes its greatest contribution to the community is the focus upon service to loyal, long-term customers in the Perrysburg area.
