As you journey through the school, you will see children of all ages busily engaged in a variety of learning activities. In The Little House, tiny 13-month-olds to 40-month-olds are sorting small rubber trucks or boats by colors. This exercise is a lesson in learning and naming colors, and to begin recognizing differences. They practice spooning walnuts from bowl to bowl to develop eye to hand coordination and fine motor control. Perrysburg Academy of the Performing Arts 156 West South Boundary Street • 419-874-6773 Since its founding in 1980, Perrysburg Academy of the Performing Arts has been a creative force in the arts community. This September the studio will celebrate its 30 year anniversary. Perrysburg Academy is under the direction of Vicki Hartkopf, who has been featured in Dance Teacher magazine and has lectured around the world to dance teachers. She is the author of a pre-school dance syllabus that has been sold in Canada, Australia, Europe and the United States. In 1997, 1999 and 2007, she served as the American judge at the Australian National Dance Finals. The studio offers classes for all ages, from beginner through pre-professional, in dance and theater arts. Classes include ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, musical theater, modern, baton, Irish step dance, Hawaiian, hiphop, preschool combination classes and ballroom. Acting and voice classes also are offered. Since 1987, the studio has been located in its spacious facility in the Shoppes of Country Charm. The Perrysburg Academy MVP’s (Miss Vicki’s Performers) represents the school at fairs, festivals and performances. Students at the academy have opportunities to perform throughout the year. Major performances include the annual spring dance concert and The Nutcracker. Academy dancers also have performed aboard the Costa Riviera cruise ship, in Spain and Jamaica. Perrysburg Academy dancers have attended the Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall and participated in “Rockette for a Day” in New York City. Ms. Hartkopf also provides Master Classes for her students with guest artist instructors. These have included author and master teacher Janice Barringer, Radio City Rockette Ann Cooley, “Wicked” cast member Ryan Jackson and professional dancer and choreographer Jeff Shade. After a combined 20 years of experience in the local restaurant industry, co-owners Gareth Jones and Bruce Bansbach shared a vision for a deli that served high quality meats and cheeses on freshly baked bread at a fair price.
