PROGRESS IN PERRYSBURG–JULY 2010
LOW BACK PAIN?
When Mike Olmstead, PT, Cert. MDT,
and Julie Olmstead, PT, Cert. MDT,
opened Physical Therapy Consultants
seven years ago, they were committed to
making sure their patient’s choices in selecting
PTC over others for Physical Therapy
were met with appreciation and a solid
set of core principals. Today, those principals
remain unchanged.
According to Mike Olmstead, “Exchange
in abundance is a core principal of
PTC. We believe in giving one hundred
percent of our effort and attention to treating
you, in exchange for one hundred percent
of your effort and attention in getting
well. It’s a simple concept which produces
incredible results.”
Another core principal of PTC is making
sure patients are evaluated, treated and
successfully discharged by the same physical
therapist. According to co-founder
Julie Olmstead, “Over the past 17+ years
we’ve been in practice the nature of physical
therapy has trended toward large facilities
staffed with many practitioners and
assistants, but at what cost to the patients?
Much of the treatment in some larger facilities
is administered by physical therapist
aides and assistants, with physical
therapists taking a smaller, though no less
important role in patient care. The results
are patients bouncing between many individuals,
never becoming comfortable with
one physical therapist, and feeling like cattle.
That is a trend to which we don’t subscribe.”
Another point which many in the general
public are not aware of is that due to
legislation passed in Ohio anyone can seek
treatment for physical therapy without first
obtaining a doctors referral. “Any community
member may now seek physical
therapy without a physician’s referral, provided
they are paying out-of-pocket, or
their insurance will allow physical therapy
without a referral. As a private citizen this
is a first step toward your controlling how,
when and whom you see for your physical
therapy treatments. When you consider
that up until now the decision had mostly
been made for you, this is a huge win for
anyone who truly values their freedom of
choice.”
In addition to the Perrysburg facility,
Physical Therapy Consultants has locations
in Oregon and Sylvania
PTC accepts most insurance plans, as
well as, Visa, Mastercard, Discover and
American Express. PTC can be located on
the web at www.yourptc.com.
