Call Termination has the meaning set forth for “termination” in 47CFR § 51.701(d).<br />

Call Transport has the meaning set forth for “transport” in 47 CFR § 51.701(c).<br />

Call Transport and Termination For the purposes of Attachment 3, Call Transport and<br />

Termination is used collectively to mean the switching and transport functions from the<br />

Interconnection Point to the last point of switching.<br />

Centralized Message Distribution System (“CMDS”) is the BellCore administered national<br />

system, based in Kansas City, Missouri, used to exchange EMI formatted data among host<br />

companies.<br />

Common (Shared) Transport For the purposes of Attachment 3 Common (Shared) Transport<br />

is defined as the transport of the originating Party’s traffic by the terminating Party over the<br />

terminating Party’s common (shared) facilities between (1) the terminating Party’s tandem<br />

switch and end office switch, (2) between the terminating Party’s tandem switches, and/or (3)<br />

between the terminating Party’s host and remote end office switches. All switches referred<br />

herein must be entered into the Local Exchange Routing Guide (“LERG”).<br />

Daily Usage File is the compilation of messages or copies of messages in standard Exchange<br />

Message Interface (EMI) format exchanged from AT&T to a CLEC.<br />

Dedicated Interoffice Facility For the purposes of Attachment 3, Dedicated Interoffice Facility<br />

is defined as a switch transport facility between a Party’s Serving Wire Center and the first point<br />

of switching within the LATA on the other Party’s network.<br />

End Office Switching For the purposes of Attachment 3, End Office Switching is defined as the<br />

function that establishes a communications path between the trunk side and line side of the End<br />

Office switch.<br />

Exchange Message Interface (“EMI”) is the nationally administered standard format for the<br />

exchange of data among the Exchange Carriers within the telecommunications industry.<br />

Fiber Meet as described in Attachment 3, is an interconnection arrangement whereby the Parties<br />

physically interconnect their networks via an optical fiber interface at which one Party's<br />

facilities, provisioning, and maintenance responsibility begins and the other Party's responsibility<br />

ends.<br />

Intercompany Settlements (“ICS”) is the revenue associated with charges billed by a company<br />

other than the company in whose service area such charges were incurred. ICS on a national<br />

level includes third number and credit card calls and is administered by BellCore’s Credit Card<br />

and Third Number Settlement System (CATS). Included is traffic that originates in one<br />

Regional Bell Operating Company’s (RBOC) territory and bills in another RBOC’s territory.<br />
