TO: Members of the Education Council FROM: Suzanne Rose, MD, MSEd SUBJECT: Revised Appeals Process DATE: 3/18/13 CC: MEMORANDUM Overview: The current process for students to appeal decisions related to course grades, remediation programs, promotion and dismissal is overly cumbersome, puts an unfair onus on the student to move throughout the structure, and permits the Student Evaluation and Appeals Review Committee (SEARC) to overturn recommendations of the Course Grading Committee (CGC) without those recommendations going through the Academic Advancement Committee (AAC).
