as well as the manner of indicating the claims to<br />
which the documents cited in such rep<strong>or</strong>t are relevant<br />
are set f<strong>or</strong>th in Administrative Instructions Sections<br />
507(c), (d), and (e) and 508.<br />
ITEM.VII. CERTAIN DEFECTS IN THE INTER<br />
NATIONAL APPLICATION<br />
If, in the opinion of the examiner, defects existing<br />
in the f<strong>or</strong>m <strong>or</strong> contents of the international application<br />
have not been suitably solved at the prescribed time<br />
limit f<strong>or</strong> establishing the international preliminary<br />
examination rep<strong>or</strong>t, the examiner may include this<br />
opinion in the rep<strong>or</strong>t, and if included, must also indicate<br />
the reasons theref<strong>or</strong>. See the discussion under<br />
MPEP § 1878, Item VII.<br />
ITEM VII. CERTAIN OBSERVATIONS ON THE<br />
INTERNATIONAL APPLICATION<br />
If, in the opinion of the examiner, the clarity of<br />
claims, the description, and the drawings, <strong>or</strong> the gues-<br />

tion as to whether the claims are fully supp<strong>or</strong>ted by<br />
the description have not been suitably solved at the<br />
prescribed time limit f<strong>or</strong> establishing the international<br />
preliminary examination rep<strong>or</strong>t, the examiner may<br />
include this opinion in the rep<strong>or</strong>t, and if included,<br />
must also indicate the reasons theref<strong>or</strong>. See the discussion<br />
under MPEP § 1878, Item VIII.<br />
CERTIFICATION<br />
When completing the certification of the rep<strong>or</strong>t, the<br />
examiner must indicate the date on which the Demand<br />
f<strong>or</strong> International Preliminary Examination was submitted<br />
and the date on which the examiner completed<br />
the rep<strong>or</strong>t and the name and mailing address of the<br />
International Preliminary Examining Auth<strong>or</strong>ity.<br />
<strong>The</strong>se last mentioned items may either be completed<br />
when including the other data <strong>or</strong> when completing<br />
the certification. Every international preliminary<br />
examination rep<strong>or</strong>t must be signed by a primary<br />
exarriiner.
