It is to be noted that only the "second sheet", the<br />

"continuation ofsecond sheet". (if any) and thevcontinuation<br />

of first sheet (1)" (if any), will be the subject<br />

of international publication, as the "first sheet" and<br />

the "continuation of first sheet (2)" (if any} contain<br />

only inf<strong>or</strong>mation which will already appear on the<br />

front page of the pamphlet.<br />

<strong>The</strong> international search rep<strong>or</strong>t must list the classification<br />

identification of the fields searched using the<br />

IPc.<br />

Where the international search rep<strong>or</strong>t is entirely <strong>or</strong><br />

partly based on a previous search made f<strong>or</strong> anapplicalion<br />

relating to a similar subject, the relevant search<br />

files consulted f<strong>or</strong> this previous search mustalso be<br />

identified in the rep<strong>or</strong>t as having been consulted f<strong>or</strong><br />

the international .application.inquestion.<br />

RESTRICTION OF THE SUBJECT OF THE<br />

INTERNATIONAL SEARCH<br />

<strong>The</strong> rep<strong>or</strong>t must indicate whether the search was<br />

restricted <strong>or</strong> not f<strong>or</strong> any of the reasons indicated<br />

below.<br />

If any such restrictions were applied, the claims in<br />

respect of which a search has not been carried out<br />

must be identified and the reasons of this should be<br />

indicated.<br />

<strong>The</strong> three categ<strong>or</strong>ies where such restrictions may<br />

arise are:<br />

(A) Lack of unity of invention;<br />

(B) Claims drawn to subject matter excluded<br />

from the search;<br />

(C) Claims in respect of which a meaningful<br />

search cannot be carried out.
