ACADEMIC AD WORK EXPERIECE
Research Assistant, NSF Centre for Autonomic Computing
University of Arizona , Electrical and Computer Engineering , Aug, 07 - Present
• Autonomia: Autonomic control and Management Environment (Master’s Thesis)
Autonomia is a dynamic programmable control and management service to support the development
and deployment of smart applications. Autonomia can be used to implement autonomic components
from scratch or add autonomizing provisions to existing software modules or resources.
We developed services and tools like autonomic load balancing and autonomic fault management to
improve management and productivity of HPC Server 2008 Clusters and applications.
• Autonomic Power and Performance Management of Large Scale Data Centers
The objective of this research is to develop a theoretical framework and a general methodology for
autonomic power and performance management of high performance distributed computing centers.
Teaching Assistant, University of Arizona, Electrical and Computer Engineering , Aug, 07 – Jan, 08
In charge for handling assignments, Design lab and grading the same.
Interacted on a weekly basis with students, during the course lab hours and also conducted office hours
to resolve design and circuit related issues.
IBM IDIA PRIVATE LIMITED, Bangalore, India May, 05 - June, 07
Design and Development Engineer. Client: AT&T.
Project: Services Provisioning Platform (SPP).
• Service Provisioning Platform is a family of applications, which is responsible for provisioning Layer
4 to Layer 7 features for all AT&T Voice and Enhanced services. It is responsible for service
activation and network infrastructure provisioning for both the TDM and VoIP networks.
• Responsible for Object Oriented Design and development of code in C++ for SPP, which supports
high-volume data, low-level transactions and real-time application logic.
• One of my works in Automating the Build process was identified as an Intellectual capital by IBM.
• Instrumental in successful deployment of 5 Quarterly Releases in IBM. Identified as among the Top
Contributors of 2006 by IBM.
ACADEMIC PROJECTS
1. Implementation of an Operating System (Current Project. Spring 09)
In the first phase we implemented low level process support (process creation and termination), low level
CPU scheduling, process synchronization, and interrupt handler synchronization. In the next phases we
will implement more complicated process control functions, inter process communication primitives,
device drivers and virtual memory.
2. Autonomic load balancing in Microsoft Windows Server 2008 based Cluster
Implemented receiver initiated and sender initiated load balancing in an eight core cluster using MPI and
C programming
3. Implementation of a parser for a subset of C called C—
Read in a program according to the lexical conventions of the language; check syntax rules and report
lexical/syntax errors;
4. Configuration of a Linux based router
Configured a fully functional internet router which routes real network traffic. The features that we
configured are DHCP, DNS Server, Routing, Apache Web Server, Port Forwarding, Firewall, and
Internet Connectivity.
5. Distributed Distance Vector Routing Algorithm Implementation
Implemented in the HP cluster with each node acting as a router. Used distributed Devs java to manage
the message passing.
6. Compression of an image using sub band coding.
Modified EZW algorithm was applied to compress the image. The whole project was implemented in
MATLAB. (Selected as the best Under graduate final year project.)
7. FPGA implementation of Linear Predictive Coding (LPC)
Analysis and synthesis of stationary process. The system was coded in VHDL and implemented into
Cypress FPGA kit with a high amount of success.
8. Texture Analysis and Classification with Tree-Structured Wavelet Transform
Used feature selection algorithm to find the best features for classification. The whole project was
implemented in MATLAB.
AWARDS AD ACTIVITIES
1. Secured 31st rank among 140000 students in the Engineering Entrance Examination. May 2001.
2. Identified as one among top 10% employees in IBM in the year 2006.
3. Ranked among top 5% of students throughout undergraduate studies.
4. Got tuition scholarship from Reserve Bank of India during my High school and Under Graduate studies.
