I Stand for the Silent
By: Savannah Gilley/la
"From this day forward I promise to respect those
around me as well as respect myself. I am somebody,
and I can make a difference. I can make another feel
loved. I can be the helping hand that helps another back
to a path of hope and inspiration. I will not stand silent
as others try to spread hatred around my community.
Instead, I pledge to lift up those victims, and show them that their life matters. I will be the
change, because I am somebody."
This is the pledge kids around the world are taking thanks to Kirk Smalley, the father of
Ty Smalley, who killed himself last May.
A bully had been hazing Ty after an assembly one day at school. Ty had finally had
enough and decided to retaliate this time. He got caught and was suspended for three days. He
was taken home by his mom and then she went back to work. In the short time between dropping
him off at the house and her coming back from work he had shot himself in the parents'
bedroom.
Stand for the Silent is reaching the bullies. One of the former bullies says, "I'm sorry for
ever bullying anybody. I really never meant to hurt anyone and I want to stop and put others
feelings before my actions…and I want to help stop bullying and so do my friends so we can
take a stand to help you!" S.F.T.S. is also reaching the bullied. "You have just inspired me
and taught me that I am somebody" said one student.
Throughout Mr. Smalley's assembly he asks his audience to put up the "I love you" symbol
"lmL" which means; I'm here for you, I love you, and I support you. He keeps the audience
constantly interested. When speaking about Ty he got very emotional which drew the
audience in to actually listen to what he's saying. The speech was very touching and he has an
amazing story to share.
Class Elections Yield Runoffs
By Katrina Ramirez
What are class elections and why are they so important? Those are probably some
of the things you are thinking about when someone is talking about class elections.
"Class election for class office will provide leadership, and class queen and class
favorite will represent for Homecoming." Mrs. Kadavy informed me. She also gave me a
list of who won the class elections:
The class queen for freshman class is Kylee Blehm and for the junior class it will be
between Jami Adams, Nikki Matthews, and Mika Pinkerton. The senior class queen is
between Terrah Anselmi and Lexi Holmes. Congratulations to all class queens.
The people who will be leading the school for sophomore class are Carter Loosen,
who is vice-president. The class secretary that will be taking her own time into the
school is Katie Winnicki and the junior vice-president is a runoff between Adam Masters
and Grant Newton, and the class reporter will be Katie Lippoldt. The senior class vicepresident
is Peyton Yeoman, and the secretary is another runoff between Jordyn
McAdam and Kaitlin Pritchett.
MTV Stands For Music Television?
Opinion by: Logan Alexander, Editor-in-Chief
Every year MTV hosts the Video Music Awards, an opportunity
for the vain and self-righteous “artists” that populate our iPods
and illegally downloaded music libraries to congregate and celebrate
their achievements in the world of music. Oh, wait, that‟s the
Grammy‟s.
Let us hearken back to a time, a time when MTV‟s name actually
meant “Music Television” and not “That channel with Teen
Mom and Jersey Shore”. But how can we? All the students here at
Kingfisher were too young for that MTV. We‟ve never known that
MTV.
MTV now plagues the television airwaves with such fare as “16
and Pregnant”, cheap knock-offs of “Superbad”, and several series
about teenagers doing drugs and having premarital sex and acting
mature and blah, blah, blah that only last one season (“Skins” anyone?).
Sunday night‟s VMAs seemed almost like a death rattle rather
than the spectacle that they attempted for. Lady Gaga dressed as a
man, complete with 5-o‟clock shadow, Justin Bieber tried his hard-
What is Art?
By Alisha Wallace, KHS Art Instructor
What is art? Students
in Art I classes began
the school year answering
this question.
Some believed art
was simply a class by
which to round out
their schedule or
works hung in rarely
visited museums.
Coloring and painting
were a few other top
suggestions.
Others thought
art to be a fun, handson
approach to selfexpression
(or at least
that is what they told
their teacher!). The
back of our text book defines art as a “visual statement that
represents the real world, communicates an idea or feeling, or
presents an interesting design.” While this simple statement
catches the gist of art, I believe the importance and relevance
of true art depends upon the thought of the individual who
creates or perceives each work.
I invite you this year to wander by the art room. See what
fellow peers are designing…whether you look up at our ceiling
tiles or leaf through the pages of Art II‟s altered journals, I
hope you are pleasantly surprised at the talent in our school
and discover a little of “what art is” for yourself!
est to look like an artist, and Chris Brown ripped off Usher‟s
“OMG” performance from last year.
Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry successfully failed at looking creative
with their “nuance” get-ups they donned. I‟m not sure what they
are trying to do, but it‟s not working. Please, stop. We‟ve had
enough. That goes for you too, Gaga. And, for some reason, Justin
Bieber was carrying around a small snake. Riddle me that.
It had its high notes though: Ricky “Rozay-Ugh-Yuh-Da-Boss”
Ross shedded his hood persona and took a humorous turn in several
skits with host Kevin Hart, who is always a stellar comedian, Adele
proved she may be one of the few singers that can actually sing, and
Ke$ha was nowhere to be seen.
Through out the broadcast we were bombarded with previews
for MTV‟s new show “I Just Want My Pants Back”, their new show
about mature, going-nowhere, twenty-somethings that are cool
enough to have sex. We‟ll see how well the show goes.
In a world where the music industry is nothing but samples of
old songs and remixes, what hope do we have for an actual Music
Television?
5 Songs you should know This Week
By Ulysses de la Rosa/la
This week I‟m trying
to make the line-up a little
bit more diverse with a
little bit of techno. So,
without further ado:
1. Scary Monsters
and Nice Spirits-
SKRILLEX from
the Scary Monsters
and Nice
Spirits EP.
- Only recently have I dwelled in techno and
electronica, however, former FORM FIRST TO
LAST front man, Sonny Moore, has a talented
knack for this breed of music. Listen; if you
don‟t love it, maybe techno is not for you.
2. Simple Math- MANCHESTER ORCHESTRA from the Simple
Math album.
- Manchester Orchestra is ironically not an orchestra,
but also, not from Manchester (I don‟t
even think they‟ve been to Manchester!). Their
smooth psychedelic sound is like the soundtrack
to a coffee shop, leaving you feeling mellow,
thoughtful, and relaxed.
3. Here We Go Again (Repeat Offender) - VONNEGUTT from
the Appetizer EP.
- This is actually the first song I heard by Vonnegutt.
Funny and catchy, I cannot stop listening
to them. Just buy their whole EP, it‟ll be the
only thing you play for the rest of the year.
4. Stare like You‟ll Stay- CIRCA SURVIVE form the Appendage
album.
- One of my favorite songs. I admit, Circa Survive
may not be everyone‟s cup of tea. Keep an
open mind before listening. Beautiful song.
5. That Fire- BLACK TIDE from the Post Mortem album.
- This song is currently number two on the Top
100. It almost seems to me as though it‟s taking
a pop approach to hardcore or post-hardcore.
This may be a sign of cross over potential in for
the mainstream.
Memories of Summer
Opinion by Dalton Palmer
Summer vacation, a time of the year every student looks forward
to. Staying up late and sleeping in all day, what is not to like?
No one ever wants to see summer end, and yet it does every year.
School seems to always be right around the corner, but you still
cling to those last days of vacation. Then it hits you like a wall, and
you are confronted with homework and tests, not to mention you
have to get up early now.
When you get back to school everyone likes to talk about what
they did over the summer. Some people took vacations to other
places, while others just relaxed at home enjoying every second.
Everyone spent their summer in some way, and everyone has
some good memories that they do not want to ever forget. However
there are always some memories we would not mind forgetting
about, some things we just want to push to the back of our minds.
Often these moments are embarrassing for us, but hilarious for others.
So we try and avoid them, life just seems better that way.
Sure we might not remember every second of our summers, but
we enjoy the best parts of it forever. School might have started and
took summer away from you, but at least you had fun. Do not let
school drag you down, just get up and get ready. Before you know it
summer will be here again and you will be making new memories.
Life is what you make it, right? Why not make it something grand?
Have fun!
Glee Club
By: Caitlynn Niestempski
Do, Ra, Me, Fa, So, La,
Ti, Do, is what the Glee Club
does to warm up every Monday
from 3:30 P.M. to 4:00,
the class last till 5. This is
not a club about the hit TV
show Glee. This is a club for
kids who can‟t come to
Choir class during school.
The new choir director Ms.
Edwards helps the Glee Club
kids perfect their talent of
singing.
There are only a hand full of Glee Club kids so far and are
waiting for more to come and join their voice with the others.
Glee club is a place where a talented boy or girl can put their
voice to the test. Ms. Edwards is doing her best to find music
that the Glee Club kids can sing. Songs like “Don‟t Stop Believing”
by the TV show Glee.
Kena Pechacek said, “You don‟t have to be a girl to join
Glee Club.” There are two boys already in the enrolled. If you
are a singer and want your voice to be heard then join the Glee
Club from 3:30 to 5:00 every Monday in the band and vocal
room at Kingfisher High School.

It Gets Better
By Ulysses de la Rosa/gk
Wednesday, August 24 th , Kirk Smalley
came into KHS to tell us his son‟s story.
Which is one of tragedy; he also explained
how to put a stop to ten suicides related to
bullying. This man‟s struggle reminded me
of a project
I heard about this summer thanks to a
band called Rise Against, It Gets Better.
IGB is an organization trying to put an end
to bullying towards young homosexual men
and women and encourages them to look
toward the future, promising that „it gets
better‟.
It Gets Better was started by author
Dan Savage in September 2010, whom is
currently editorial director for The Stranger
in Seattle. Mr. Savage started this movement
with one video he made with his partner
after hearing about the suicides of Billy
Lucas and Aaberg. They ended it with the
phrase, „It gets better‟, and a movement was
born.
„The project has received submissions from
celebrities, organizations, activists, politicians
and media personalities, including
President Barack Obama, Secretary of State
Hillary Clinton, Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Adam
Lambert, Anne Hathaway, Colin Farrell,
Matthew Morrison of "Glee", Joe Jonas,
Joel Madden, Ke$ha, Sarah Silverman, Tim
Gunn, Ellen DeGeneres, Suze Orman, the
staffs of The Gap, Google, Facebook, Pixar,
the Broadway community, and many more.
Mr. Smalley‟s story reminded me of
everything I‟ve heard about from this project.
It Gets Better, highlights the struggles
our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters go
through daily just being themselves. The
music video “Make It Stop (September‟s
Children)” by Rise Against displays a variety
of different scenarios that could and do
happen every day.
I took a pledge, alongside the pledge I
took for Stand For The Silent, to do my best
to help spread this movement and work to
spread tolerance for everyone‟s lifestyle. If
your interested in watching any of these
New Voting ID Requirement
By Grace Krepel/la
As of July 1 of this year all voters must show proof
of identity in order to cast there ballet in any election.
According Kingfisher County Election Board Secretary
Sharon K. O‟Hern, the law is very specific about the kind
of document that can be used. “It must be issued by the
federal, state, or recognized tribal government. Also it
must have the name and photo of the person registered.”
O‟Hern warned in a press release from the Election
Board.
If you are worried about acquiring such a document,
which included a driver‟s license, a state ID, a passport,
or a military ID, Never fear. You may request a voter ID card when you register. Speaking
of registering to vote, if you will be eighteen before the next election you may register to
vote now. Don‟t miss this opportunity to participate in our government. Voter Registration
forms maybe obtained from Dr. Johnson or the Kingfisher Country Court House. It is a
simple form and for the cost of a stamp you can make your voice heard!
The Other Sport
By: Grace Krepel/la
You may be alarmed to see somewhere between seventy to a hundred and fifty people
dashing across a grass field following the sound of a gun.
However, this isn‟t what it appears. These individuals in
their short shorts are not running from something but rather
towards the distant finish line, and for these cross country
runners the finish line is very distant.
Let me make something clear. This is not fall track! We
don‟t run in circles, sprint, hurdle, or throw anything. This
sport involves grueling distances over hills and rough surfaces.
By the end of the season the girls will be running two
miles and the guys will be running upwards of three. It‟s
also important to note, when following CC results that seventy
people in a race is small so when you hear people excited
about getting eighteenth or twentieth, they aren‟t slow.
They are simply pleased that they beat fifty other people.
Cross Country may not be a contact sport according
to the rules, however when you put a hundred
people a single line and fire a gun all bets are
off. Elbows and shoulders seam to be everywhere
making you seriously question the validity of such
rules. Hold up, don‟t think this is the toughest part of
the sport. Running long distance is a battle of sheer
will power.
Make sure to keep and eye out for the result of
such battles as the season kicked off last Saturday at
Chisholm. Pay special attention Shane Wright and
Colin Stallcup who led the guy‟s team Saturday and
also Grace Krepel who placed second over all. Don‟t
forget Alan Murphy and Brook Boeckman our up
and coming freshman.

Cross Country … The Forgotten Fall Sport
Opinion by Dalton Palmer
Football is the sport our entire nation watches every
year with extreme devotion and loyalty to their team. At
this time of the year it is a topic that many students end up
talking about, spending time picking over the last game,
saying what went wrong and what went right. However at
this time of the year football is not the only sport to be
played, there is also one other sporting event that involves
a lot of running.
Yes, I am talking about cross country, the sport where
stamina and endurance are the deciding factors of every
little match.
Sure at this time of the year no one pays much attention
to any other sport besides football, but that does not mean that cross
country does not exist. Even though they get little recognition they still run
out on that track, running until they can no longer run.
Though they are not a popular topic among the students these runners
do not stop what they are doing, they just run harder and harder. They are
not in this for the glory, just for the sport itself. This time of the year is football
season, but cross country is right there with them. Even though they are
not the most popular sport they are still out there practicing.
Student Council Holds 3rd Meeting
By: Kena Pechacek/la
On August 31, 2011 Student Council held their third meeting of the
new school year. The first thing we did was get the minutes read to us by
Trevor Woods. After all that was done, we talked a little about the Win-
Win Week shirts.
Then we got to sign up to be on a Homecoming committee and the
committees are as follows: Spirit Week- chaired by Kena Pechacek, Fundraising-
chaired by Adam Masters, Banner- is co chaired by Blair Keppel
and Hunter Bonham, Decorations- is co chaired by Eric Ogilvie and Shalyn
Layn , Parade- is chaired by Ashton Emenger. Those committees could sure
use all the help they can get so please feel free to join a committee and become
a part in what the school makes happen.
After all that we got to talk about the military care packages that we
will be sending overseas, so don‟t forget to give Mrs. Kadavy the name and
location of a troop you would like to see get a care package.
Then we talked about how we could encourage school spirit and we
came up with the (super fan) - that chair is Grant Newton. Then they talked
briefly about the student of the month recognition. Then we talked about
how the spring district convention will be held here again. Then we went
on to talk about how we could possibly have a community service project.
The meeting was over at approximately 8:10 A.M.
Freshmen Have Feelings Too
Opinion By: Trey Yeoman/la
Juniors despise them, Sophomores are glad not to be
them, and Seniors refuse to even acknowledge their existence.
You guessed it, freshmen. In the eyes of many they are
the bottom of the food chain, insignificant little germs
whose only purpose is to be scraped off the bottom of everyone
else‟s shoes with the rake of oppression.
Well I say, “NO!” No to this unnecessary display of
brutality towards the innocent! Is it friendly “Welcome-to-
High-School teasing”? Or is it a barrage of mean, hurtful
words and actions intended to humiliate freshmen until
they are reduced to nothing more than lifeless ghosts who
out of fear of being made fun of will not even speak up and
be heard.
If you ask them, upperclassmen will tell you its normal,
that it‟s just something all freshmen have to go
through, or that they do it because it was done to them. It‟s
not normal. Any human being can see that. We can stop it
easily. Think about it, if you treat this year‟s freshmen
fairly and show them compassion, they will remember, and
by the time they‟re juniors and seniors this whole pick on
freshmen thing could be long gone.
So the next time you see an incompetent freshman
wondering through the hall desperately searching for their
fourth hour class, you could tell them to get a brain because
it‟s the third week of school and they should know which
classroom to be in by now because unless you‟re a stupid
freshman it‟s not that hard to figure out. Or you could say
with a smile, “Right over there bro, don‟t be late.” You
decide which is the right thing to do.
Burlesque
Movie Review By: Kena Pechacek/la/ky
The movie Burlesque is a movie that is about a girl named
Ali who escapes her life that is burdened with hardships to
fulfill her dream of becoming a singing actress which takes her
to Los Angeles, California. She then discovers the burlesque
lounge were at first she becomes a cocktail waitress in hopes of
performing on the stage one day.
Her day comes sooner then expected when she becomes
friends with the dancers. She then falls in love with the bartender
Jack and what an adventure that turned out to be! With
the help of the witty stage manager Tess, Ali soon finds her
self going from bar tender to stage performer.
The club at the time wasn't doing so well until our heroin
came along and miraculously restores the club to its hay days.
With her incredible voice she makes people want to come back
for another performance.
She is the one that keeps the club from closing because at
first Tess didn‟t know how she was going to pay the bills but
when Ali brings the club a lot of income she learns she can pay
the bills with that money. She is astounded that she gets to
keep the club all thanks to a girl who started out as nothing and
then became something.
Her voice is then wanted by so many more people but Ali
chooses to stay right were she is at.

Football Season is Here
Opinion by Dalton Palmer
It's that time of the year, the time when they toss on their pads and put on
the jersey. Putting their helmets on they are ready to rough and mean. The
look in their eyes is pure adrenaline, each breath labored and heavy. With all
their force they drive into one another, and the crowd simply cheers on and
on, the harder they hit the louder they cheer.
Wiping the sweat from their brow they get ready for another play, the
crowd's cheer fueling them to do what they need to do. On the sidelines their
teammates anticipate the play, waiting for their turn to go on the field and
show their skill.
Yes, folks it's football season again. That time of year when the crowd
screams so loud you can hear them anywhere in Kingfisher. Fans on the edge
of their seats, waiting for the final score, crossing their fingers in hope that the
Jackets take the lead. Others fishing for those ear plugs to drown out the constant
yelling and screaming, who eagerly await the end of the season.
Every topic revolves around that field, around what happened on that
field, and sometimes what happened off the field. Players keep those grades
up so you can play. Fans find you a seat in the stands and cheer your heads
off. Those of you who disagree with the sport find yourself some ear plugs,
you will need them. Whether or not you are a fan of football get ready, because
it's back.
The D in music
Opinion By: Balin Bonds/gk
Teenagers who spend more time listening to music
are more likely to suffer from depression than those who
read more books according to a study published by University
of Pittsburg.
The study, which involved one hundred and six patients,
showed an emotional change in those who listen to
more music. It turns out, teens who listen to a lot of music
are approximately eight times more likely to be depressed
then those who do not. However, the study shows individuals
who read more books have almost no emotional
change in their behavior.
I would have to disagree, no matter what studies
show. In my opinion, depression in teens can not be
caused just by music. They may be having a bad day or
maybe things are rough at home. However, almost all of
my friends including myself love music and I can assure
anyone that we are not depressed because of it. I don‟t
know what other people think of the matter, but that is
their decision to make.

Insightful Interview with Local Legend
Oklahoma All-State Coach of the Year Jeff Meyers
By: Peyton Yeoman, Assistant Editor
Kingfisher High School football
coach Jeff Meyers is a bit of a legend
around these parts. With his elevated status
as demi-god to the football team, it was
quite the task scoring an interview with this
deity.
Sitting atop Mt. Olympus, his
Biology classroom, Coach Meyers first
shares with me his basic thoughts on the
high school football team this year. “The
numbers are good,” he states.
“65 or so… That‟s the best we‟ve had
in a while for 9-12 th grade.” He also praised
the group, calling the freshmen
“committed” and “dependable.” Although
they had a rough time in middle school, he
is proud of their improvement and eager to
help them “get a W under their belt” as he
believes it will substantially boost their
confidence.
As far as the Varsity team is concerned,
Coach Meyers could not be any
more pleased. He says that he is “super
excited about the leaders” this year, as well
as the new principal, Mr. Sammy Jackson,
taking charge and bringing “great and new
things to the table for the student body and
school.”
Being a Jacket
Opinion By: Dalton Palmer
Although he wouldn‟t reveal any information
related to the “top secret” plays that
will bring about many victories for our
Jackets this year claiming that if he told me
he‟d have to kill me, Meyers did share a bit
of personal information about himself. For
instance, did you know that he still has four
kids and is married to the fabulous chemistry
teacher, Mrs. Meyers? Yeah, I didn‟t
either.
His favorite holidays are Thanksgiving
and Christmas due to the fact that he always
holds football practice on Turkey Day and
Christmas is a long holiday. He wants to
encourage everyone to show school spirit
and support for the athletic teams this year
because the sports “aren‟t just about the
athletes, but are also a way to join together
as a student body” and have a good time.
What a sweetheart he is. Shout outs
aren‟t really his thing but he did suggest
that I speak to the Senior Football Captains:
Bryce Carson Hyatt, Hunter Ryan Endres
III, and Colton Riley Cheap. Stay tuned to
discover their innermost thoughts and feelings
in the next edition of The Stinger. Until
then, I‟ll leave you with these words from
Coach Meyers, “When you win, nothing
hurts.”
Being a Jacket means more than cheering at the sporting events and taking
part in them as well. To be a Jacket one must show the skills of a Jacket, they
must prove they deserve to be a Jacket.
Just what does it mean to be a Kingfisher Yellow Jacket? It means showing
the qualities that the Jackets have built over the years, the characteristics they
have come to show. Among these characteristics are teamwork, sportsmanship,
and dedication to the team.
Whether on or off the field a Jacket must always be willing to lend a helping
hand to those who need it, they do not even need to ask. Win or lose we
must show poise and go on in a dignified manner, showing sportsmanship that
is irremovable.
Should the score turn against us in a game we do not sit back and let it end,
we fight back harder, showing our dedication to the game and making sure that
we do not give up without a fight. These are all aspects that a Kingfisher Yellow
Jacket should have and should show at every given moment.
Question is do you have what it takes to be a Kingfisher Yellow Jacket?
New Photo Web Site Opened
The KHS Photography program opened a new
photo sharing web site in August to make more and
better photos available to students and patrons according
to James Kraus, Chief Photographer.
Kraus said anyone who wants to see or purchase
photos should visit www.khsphotography.com. “There
you‟ll find a link that will take you to the sharing site.”
Kraus added, “We moved our site to the new location
to improve its appearance and to make seeing and ordering
photos easier.”
Photo Sponsor, Dr. A. J. Johnson, said, “Don‟t
worry about photos from previous years, they are still
available at the photography web site, just with a different
link.”
The KHS Photo program has been posting their
images for many years. The money raised from the
photo sales used to help cover photo expenses plus to
help student photographers take a photography field
trip at the end of the school year.
KHS Student photographers are well known for
their prize winning photos.

In Response to the Economy
Opinion by: Grace Krepel/la
Last week my dear friend Mr. De La Rosa wrote a very interesting explanation
of the problems facing the economy. However, I fear that his article, although well written,
is grossly inaccurate.
If you missed Ulysses‟ article let me summarize it for you. The reason we are
in a recession is because the middle class is disappearing. The middle class is disappearing
because Ronald Reagan killed the unions. Why you ask? Because rich people told
him too.
This view point is, at best, simplistic and at worst, a fallacy. There are few statistics
to show that the middle class‟ disappearance is a reality at all. However, for the sake of
argument, let us assume that it is. In such a case, the culprit is not Former President
Regan. He neither deserves credit for that much power or that amount of blame. While
he claimed drastic changes, the reality is that very few of those actually took place. In
addition his contribution to the destruction of unions involved little more then a shove to
a declining system.
The “declining middle class” really is the loss of factory jobs. These include plants
that make anything from small trinkets to cars. The reason these jobs are diminishing
because here we require thirty dollars an hour while workers in China are happy with a
fraction of that.
So what is the solution? The same as it was during the great depression. No, I‟m not
talking about public works. I‟m talking about World War II. Now, I am by no means
suggestion that we start a war. However, I am suggesting we mimic one of the few positive
effects of that war. We need to recreate demand for our products. The simple fact is
that people in other countries work for cheaper labor. That means we have to create
products that can‟t be bought from anywhere else that can support our current wages. So
there you have it. New Technology not political policies will be needed to overcome this
crisis.
Senior Profile: Trisha Nancy-Ann Sutton
On the day of July 14, 1994, in the city of Adelanto, California,
the world was blessed with the one and only Trisha Nancy-Ann
Sutton. Now the great town of Kingfisher is blessed, a little cursed,
and probably even overjoyed that she‟s a senior.
Trisha‟s got quite a family including her mom and dad, Douglas
and Candice Sutton, her 22 year old sister Christa, 21 year old
brother Scott, and her 11 year old brother Michael.
When it comes to school, Trisha is involved in many things
except for sports. She participates in Speech, Debate and Drama, as
well as Business professionals of America. Her favorite subject is
English four which incidentally is taught by her favorite teacher
Mrs. Schieber.
After graduating, Trisha plans on going to NWOSU for health
care. She sees herself as a doctor or at least something in the medical
field.
When it comes to entertainment she has really good taste. Her
favorite movies are Iron Man, Green Lantern, and anything with
Adam Sandler. She reads many books like Look for Me by
Moonlight and the Twilight Saga. She also enjoys the video game
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. She listens to all kinds of music,
but if she had to pick two favorites, they would be country and rock.
Aftermath of
Hurricane Irene
On August 21, 2011 Irene was categorized as
a hurricane, but on August 22, it became a
tropical rainstorm. The hurricane hit around
Virginia, New Jersey, North Carolina, Vermont,
and New York area. Hurricane Irene
has caused many problems such as: power
shortages, the flooding of homes, officials
have been asking people to evacuate their
homes, and also road closures.
Hurricane Irene killed 54 people in the
states it had hit and caused 4.5 million people
to have to evacuate their homes. The hurricane
also caused over 2 million power outages
and the damage cost is around $7 billion.
In Boonton, most of the interstate have been
washed out by the hurricane.
On August 25, Maryland prepared for a
declaration of the hurricane. In Washington
D.C. on August 28, due to the hurricane the
Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Ceremony
was closed.
Even though the hurricane turned into a
tropical rainstorm, it is just a violent.
To be more specific, she loves
the band Breaking Benjamin.
Some of her hobbies include
writing poetry, reading, and
spending time with friends. For
her, Christmas is the best holiday.
If you want to make her really
happy buy her a panda, her favorite
animal.
Laura Padilla, Ashley Bradford,
Kerry Quinn, Aaron Cox,
Dakota Wahnee, and Danny Little
are her best friends. You
might find her with them wearing purple ( her favorite color) and
snacking on some fried chicken. She might grab a bag of cotton
candy for dessert.
To all the freshmen in this school, Trisha says to do your work
and don‟t slack off. The things she will miss are the teachers and
the memories she has had here. Lastly to all her fellow seniors she
has one thing to say. “It‟s been a long journey and yet we‟re just
beginning our lives.”
