both flat cardboard and full carton sections
can be glued with hot melt. Our glue products
ensure fast, reliable, and ideal packaging results
at high speed, minimum machine downtime,
and high production reliability.
Hot tip: Hot melt products and solutions
from KHS
When it comes to getting the maximum performance
from KHS labeling and packaging machines,
there‘s a lot of potential in your adhesive.
But you have to make sure that the products
are tailored to the special requirements and
needs of our machines. For instance, the adhesive-pressure
Innocoll HML 11 hot melt is
attractive for the labeling of PET and PVC bottles
with plastic (OPP/HDPE) or paper labels,
thanks to its excellent processing properties on
particularly fast KHS machines. Similarly, our hot
melt Innocoll HML 117, which is specially developed
for the wrap-around labeling of cold and
hot cans and containers, offers decisive advantages
for both pick-up and overlapping processes:
Thanks to its long ”open“ time and its
powerful adhesion, this glue can also be used
for very warm containers on fast machines, and
is also suitable for a wide variety of different
labels.
With its Innocoll HML 115 – the flexible, multitalented
adhesive – KHS offers a hot melt designed
for all-purpose use in the labeling of
glass and plastic bottles, as well as metal cans.
This adhesive can be used on either fast or slow
machines and can be processed even at relatively
low temperatures of 1 0° C and 1 0° C.
Also for sealing and erecting cartons and trays,
KHS has the right hot melt products in its product
line such as Innocoll HMP 11 , the fast glue
for folded box assembly, tray setup, and the production
of small packages for cans and bottles.
With its excellent heat resistance and short
adhesion times, it is also suitable for use on
machines with very short application times.

Hot melt vs. water-based adhesive:
In contrast to water-based adhesives, socalled
hot melts offer decisive processing
advantages, for instance, when you need
to apply paper or film labels to plastic
containers. With excellent heat resistance,
fast setting, very short application time,
high adhesive force, and good thermal
stability, KHS hot melts ensure a fast, efficient,
and reliable labeling process – and
high system performance.

water-based adhesives from KHS
Even for water-based adhesive applications in
the medium to high viscosity range, KHS, as one
of the leading beverage filling system manufacturers
in the world, sets standards in labeling
technology in the beverage, food, and in the
pharmaceutical industries. That starts with the
labeling of dry, warm glass containers and plastic
bottles, through back, neck, and shoulder
labels, to aluminum neck foils for beer bottles.
With innovative latest-generation label adhesives,
based on casein or starch such as the
Innocoll KS 17 5 or Innocoll KS 1799, KHS offers
spatter-free products with excellent condensation
resistance, very high wet tack, and a short
setting time. Labeling with Innocoll ST 1 00 is
also attractive, due to its ease of label removal
in bottle washing systems under normal industry
conditions.
A real alternative is the silky-smooth, highly viscous
Innocoll ST 1 10 – a new casein-free development
based on modified starch, which is
particularly well-suitable for the labeling of
warm and hot containers. This adhesive can be
used on any machine for the labeling of glass
bottles with roller application systems in the
lower and medium speed ranges, and, in addition
to perfectly seated labels, ensures troublefree
bottle washing in the bottle washer.
And when labeling containers made of plastic
such as PET, PEN, and particularly in the case of
hard-to-bond tempered glass surfaces on rotary
machines, the Innocoll DP 151 adhesive is
recommended. This glue has the international
approval of Coca-Cola GmbH and is also approved
by the GDB the Society of German Mineral
Water Producers [Genossenschaft Deutscher
Brunnen].
