<strong>Commerzbank</strong> <strong>Corporates</strong> & <strong>Markets</strong> <strong>hires</strong> <strong>Eckhard</strong> <strong>Arndt</strong> <strong>from</strong><br />

Standard Bank<br />

<strong>Commerzbank</strong> <strong>Corporates</strong> & <strong>Markets</strong> (CBCM) today announced it has hired <strong>Eckhard</strong> <strong>Arndt</strong> as Global<br />

Head of Credit <strong>Markets</strong>.<br />

Mr <strong>Arndt</strong> will be based in London and will take responsibility for CBCM’s Credit Derivatives and Bond<br />

trading, Emerging <strong>Markets</strong> bonds and Banking Book activities.<br />

Mr <strong>Arndt</strong> joins <strong>from</strong> Standard Bank where he was the London-based Managing Director and Global Head<br />

of Credit Trading. At Standard Bank he established the Bank’s Credit Derivatives platform and was<br />

responsible for all cash and credit derivatives products, asset swaps, credit linked notes, corporate bond<br />

and emerging markets trading.<br />

Prior to this, Mr <strong>Arndt</strong> worked at DZ/DG Bank as Head of Credit Trading where he launched the Bank’s<br />

first and second generation credit derivatives products and established the Bank’s credit linked notes<br />

MTN programme for synthetic securitisation <strong>from</strong> both London and Frankfurt.<br />

Until 1998, Mr <strong>Arndt</strong> was Senior Vice President at Salomon Brothers’ New York Fixed Income Derivatives<br />

Research department and Head of Exchange Traded Fixed Income Derivatives Research. At Salomon<br />

Brothers he proved his strategic expertise in fixed income derivatives products as Vice President of the<br />

Bank’s Financial Strategy Group. Prior experience includes several positions at JP Morgan, BHF Bank<br />

and West Deutsche Landesbank.<br />

Mr <strong>Arndt</strong>’s appointment follows a number of new <strong>hires</strong> within CBCM’s Structured Credit business, which<br />

are part of the unit’s strategic plan to boost its client-related activities in this area. CBCM now focuses<br />

primarily in taking trading positions to facilitate client business.<br />

Mr <strong>Arndt</strong> will report to Willi Ufer, Global Head of <strong>Markets</strong> at CBCM, who joined on 01 April <strong>from</strong> HSBC<br />

Trinkaus.<br />

Commenting on the new appointment, Willi Ufer said: “<strong>Eckhard</strong> is an excellent trader with very strong<br />

market know-how and I am pleased to welcome him to the team. His expertise will enable CBCM to<br />

deliver a strong service across more asset classes to our clients in Europe. Our predominantly London-<br />

based Credit <strong>Markets</strong> business plays a pivotal role in our <strong>Corporates</strong> & <strong>Markets</strong> strategy and we are<br />

looking forward to further enhancing our excellent risk management and credit structuring expertise, one<br />
