Availability. In the shops <strong>of</strong> Nairobi, Kenya where the ten (10) merchants worked,<br />
more than twelve (12) <strong>products</strong> were found.<br />
Most merchants believed they sold only <strong>mercury</strong>-free <strong>products</strong>. A clear majority <strong>of</strong><br />
merchants (70%) stated they sold only <strong>mercury</strong>-free skin lightening <strong>products</strong>. State-<br />
ment originated from the belief that <strong>mercury</strong> has been banned from such <strong>products</strong> by<br />
the Kenya Bureau <strong>of</strong> St<strong>and</strong>ards. Three merchants indicated uncertainty <strong>of</strong> product content.
