WRESTLING
CAMP
UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA
CHAPEL HILL CAMPUS
PURPOSE & GOALS
Our goal is for each camper to learn basic
wrestling skills and the most current
techniques taught by our experts. In
addition, we will stress the importance of
self-discipline and mental toughness
necessary to achieve personal success. We
want each camper to understand that
wrestling is a multifaceted sport for which
all phases of preparation are necessary to
become a champion. Basic skills, repetitive
drilling, aerobic conditioning, weight
training, proper nutrition, goal-setting, stress
and anxiety control are all emphasized at
our camp.
STAFF
Our instructors are our greatest assets. We
do not bring in “big name”, high-priced
clinicians who may have little or no interest
in the growth of wrestling in this part of
the country. Too often this is the case. Our
instructors and clinicians consist
exclusively of UNC Coaching Staff, local
high school coaches, and current and past
UNC Wrestlers who were All-Americans.
We care that you have a good experience
and learn. Our camper/clinician ratio will
be no more than 15:1, providing close
personal attention to detail that is so
important to the learning environment.
This camp is designed to meet the individual’s needs and
LOCATION & FACILITIES
Simply put, “none better”. We believe that we can boast one
of, if not the finest facility in the country. The camp is held
on the beautiful campus of the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill. UNC features a gorgeous campus, outstanding
athletic facilities, and beautiful surroundings. Richard Moll,
author of Agenda to America’s Best Undergraduate Colleges,
has called Chapel Hill “the best college town in America”.
The wrestling facility is located in the new state of the art
Eddie Smith Field house adjacent to Fetzer Field and
Carmichael Gym. This indoor air-conditioned facility can
hold over twenty mats and is conveniently located to campus
housing and dining. Athletic trainers will be on hand at all
sessions as well as a Gatorade representative supplying free
Gatorade at breaks.
HOUSING & MEALS
Campers will stay on campus in student dorms at UNC with
24-hour supervision. Counselors and staff are assigned to
each floor. All meals are served at the campus-dining hall,
which is a short walk from the dormitory. The food is excellent
and campers can eat all they want.
The primary purpose of this camp is to provide a
medium for youth wrestling coaches to bring
their team/club to learn and train together as a
group.Youth coaches will work with our trained
staff to build a firm foundation of knowledge for
their youth wrestlers attending the camp.Youth
campers will be taught commitment, dedication,
and discipline principles consistant with the
sport of wrestling. Clinicians are chosen for their
valuable background in working with campers of
this age level. Additional staff is on hand to
TEAM CAMP
JUNE 24 - JUNE 28
The team camp is a combination technique specific
camp and competition camp. Your team will
wrestle at least 10 dual meets. In between duals,
wrestlers will be broken down into groups for
technique instruction. Coaches will be able to
request specific clinicians to work with their
teams and request specific technique for their
respective teams. You know better than anyone
what your team needs are.
of mat competition and wrestling instruction.
