YOU ARE REMINDED THAT 2012 SUBSCRIPTIONS ARE LONG OVERDUE. £58 plus £4
postage; family of 3 or more: £145 plus £4 postage. The Branch would be grateful if you, as a
taxpayer, would sign the Gift Aid Declaration to enable us to increase our income under this scheme, gaining
an extra £10 per member, which will cost you absolutely nothing. The maximum age for membership is 25
years. Those not paid up cease to be members, are not insured and cannot participate

CAMPS
RALLY AND ACTIVITY ORGANISERS and MEMBERS
A Risk Assessment has to be made for every venue and activity – Health & Safety Forms, to be
completed, are available from Mrs Alison Scrivens, also accident books for falls, etc, rally returns
and receipt books, which need to be sent back to her. The DCs or Mr Brett King will answer any
queries including Health and Safety
Please check hats tags and tack; no spurs; no jewellery or “sleepers”; when dismounted stirrups
rolled up; headcollars hung up properly when not in use.
Spurs may only be worn by members that hold C Test with the written permission of the DC. on your
current Membership Card. Please remove spurs when not riding.
New members must join by 1 st July to attend Summer Camps.

D+ Test, needs to be taken before C Test, and can be taken at Junior Camp.
Achievement: 31 different subjects to be achieved, and 12 Mini Achievement Badges to give a basic grounding.
On gaining 21 subjects, a gold badge and certificate is awarded. Achievement Badges can be taken at Junior and Mini
Camps.

Road Rider Test and Road Sense Achievement Badge: The RS Achievement Badge, for 10+ years and upwards, is
sufficient for C Test only, and is part of C Test. This can be taken at Junior Camp. Members wishing to take C+ or B Test
must have the Road Rider Test and must be at least 12 years old. ALL CANDIDATES MUST HOLD RR TEST OR
ACHIEVEMENT BADGE BEFORE BEING ALLOWED TO TAKE C TEST.

Thursday 5th April. 10.00 am – 1.00 To start inside with another multiple choice paper, followed by tack check, before
riding the mock test. 1.30 - 3.30 The Test.
Candidates must be at least 12yrs old. Road Rider Books can be purchased from Mrs Jewitt . Please provide a reflective
tabard and white gloves. Tack checks are an important part of this test ,so please make sure hats are tagged, all stitching
on leathers, etc. are in good order, and that stirrup irons are the right size.

shooting. Mr. Walker is in charge of the pistols, and is full of helpful advice.

Body Protectors:
Body Protectors are obligatory for all cross-country riding, whether it be training or competing, and
are advised for SJ practice, and may be worn for dressage competitions.
It is recommended that a rider’s body protector should not be more than 2% of their body weight.
Riders who use Woof War Exo body cage must lodge a key the event organiser when they collect
their numbers.

An air jacket must only be used in addition to a normal body protector. In an event of a fall it must be
fully deflated or removed before continuing. Air jackets must not be worn under any item of clothing,
and number bibs should be fitted loosely or with elasticated fastenings over the air jacket.
Hats
Hats with a cover, must be worn when mounted (this includes prize-giving) with a chinstrap fastened
at all times
For cross-country riding (including Eventing, Tetrathlon, Horse Trials, tests and training over
fences 0.95m high and above: a jockey skull cap must be worn. It is strongly recommended
that a jockey skull cap is worn for cross country riding even over lower fences.
HATS ALLOWED are marked PAS 015:1998, EN 1384:1996 or BS EN 1384:1997 all with BSI
Kitemark; Snell E2001 with the official Snell label and number; AS/NZS 3838 1998 or AS/NZS 3838
2003 with the SAI Global symbol.
Hats with vertical plastic/metallic strips are permitted.
Members under 9 years old may wear a lightweight hat made to comply with the requirements. Hats
with long ventilation slits are not allowed for members over 9 years old. Chinstraps must be done up
for all mounted instruction.
IMPORTANT: Hat Checks and Tagging: Two Branch Officials, Mrs Alison Scrivens, 01367 252579,
and Mrs Penny Hall, 01666577900 have been appointed to carry out hat checks and tag each hat that
complies with the above requirements with a Pony Club hat tag. The fit and condition of the hat is the
responsibility of the parents. Hats fitted with a PC tag will not need to be checked on subsequent occasions.
Make an appointment and take your hat to be approved and tagged. This will need to be done with any
subsequent new hat. All hats need to display the Pony Club tag at all times.

WRITTEN PERMISSION OF THE DC ON YOUR CURRENT MEMBERSHIP CARD. Rules

Remember: be mounted and ready to start at the stated times, well turned out, with supple clean tack,
hairnet for girls, no ear-rings, no jewellery, no “sleepers”. Members contemplating pierced ears or
any other part of their body will not be allowed to participate in mounted activities until the “sleepers”
can be safely removed.
Use the correct riding hat, which must be tagged, and bring body protector, plus neck strap. NO
SPURS.
