Enter your <strong>User</strong>name <strong>and</strong> Password information into the global section of the <strong>ESET</strong> configuration file using a text editor:<br />

vi @ETCDIR@/esets.cfg<br />

Edit the <strong>ESET</strong>S Update options section of the <strong>ESET</strong>S configuration file.<br />

av_update_username = "EAV-12345678"<br />

av_update_password = "yourpassword"<br />

Start main daemon service:<br />

Linux OS:<br />

/etc/init.d/esets start<br />

BSD OS:<br />

/usr/local/etc/rc.d/esets.sh start<br />

Once the package is installed, you can verify that the main <strong>ESET</strong>S service is running by using the following comm<strong>and</strong>:<br />

Linux OS:<br />

ps -C esets_daemon<br />

BSD OS:<br />

ps -ax | grep esets_daemon<br />

After pressing ENTER, you should see the following (or similar) message:<br />

PID TTY TIME CMD<br />

2226 ? 00:00:00 esets_daemon<br />

2229 ? 00:00:00 esets_daemon<br />

Solaris:<br />

ps -A | grep esets_daemon<br />

At least two <strong>ESET</strong>S daemon processes are running in the background. The first PID represents the process <strong>and</strong> threads manager of<br />

the system. The other represents the <strong>ESET</strong>S scanning process.<br />

To help you easily integrate <strong>ESET</strong> <strong>Security</strong> with your system, you can also use the <strong>ESET</strong> <strong>Security</strong> interactive automated install<br />

script. Note that automated installation is not available for <strong>File</strong> Servers. For more information, see the guide in /opt/eset/esets/<br />

share/doc for general instructions. You can undo all changes later. A list of available <strong>ESET</strong>S installations/uninstallations<br />

according to imported licenses will be displayed.<br />
