Terminology • Allocation: - address space set apart, by the RIPE NCC for LIR’s and its customers’ future use • Assignment: - address space in use in networks (End User, downstream ISP or LIR’s own infrastructure) - made from allocation or sub-allocation • Assignment Window: - maximum nr of addresses an LIR can assign without RIPE NCC’s approval.
