RUBIDIUM INVESTIGATIONS<br />

The results of preliminary tests of <strong>the</strong> resistance<br />

of lnconel to attack by molten rubidium were dis-<br />

cussed in <strong>the</strong> previous report.2 Static tests at<br />

1500 and 1650OF have shown a maximum attack of<br />

from 1 to 2 mils in 100 hr. The attack has been<br />

corrosion of lnconel<br />

problem, a dynamic<br />

test was conducted. The resistance of lnconel<br />

to corrosion by flowing liquid and vaporized ru-<br />

bidium in a closed system incorporating a tempera-<br />

turegradient was determined by means of a dynamic<br />
