Experimental transient wall and fluid temper-<br />

ature data are shown in Fig. 4.1.10 in terms of <strong>the</strong><br />

total temperature fluctuation divided by <strong>the</strong> axial<br />

temperature rise of <strong>the</strong> fluid going through <strong>the</strong><br />

core. The frequencies of <strong>the</strong> temperature fluctu-<br />

ations for this one-half-scale volume-heat-source<br />

system vary from about \ to 4 cps. The frequency<br />

range of temperature fluctuations in <strong>the</strong> full-scale<br />

ART system operating with fluoride fuel should be<br />

similar to that in <strong>the</strong> one-half-scale volume-heat-<br />

source system in which an acid was circulated.<br />

The frequencies of <strong>the</strong> temperature fluctuations<br />

were found to be in agreement with <strong>the</strong> frequencies<br />

of <strong>the</strong> velocity fluctuations observed in <strong>the</strong> full-<br />

scale core madel used for flow studies,<br />

The results of a study- of <strong>the</strong> temperature<br />

structure in an idealized ART core were presented<br />

in <strong>the</strong> previous report.8 The increase in <strong>the</strong><br />
