The positions of <strong>the</strong> fractures in <strong>the</strong> specimens<br />

tested at 1500OF in <strong>the</strong> fuel mixture are shown in<br />

Fig. 3.5.18. Specimen No. 2 was tested at 3000<br />

+ PERIOD ENDING JUNE 10, I956<br />

psi and No. 3 at 4000 psi. As may be seen, <strong>the</strong><br />

weld did not deform appreciably, compared with<br />

<strong>the</strong> base metal, in <strong>the</strong> gage length. Metallographic<br />

examination of <strong>the</strong> specimen tested at 1300OF<br />

disclosed that <strong>the</strong> weld metal was more corrosion<br />

resistant than <strong>the</strong> base metal.<br />
