Introduction Your Blaster CD 8x provides a high-performance CD-ROM drive for your computer. The CD-ROM drive supports data transfer at 1,200 KB per second and 230-millisecond or better access time, producing improved viewing of Video for Windows, Quicktime movies, and other multimedia applications. Latest Information The README file on the disk labeled “CD-ROM Installation Disk” contains the latest information and changes not available at the time this manual was printed. Please read the file before continuing. To view the README file: 1. Insert the CD-ROM installation disk into your 3.5-inch floppy disk drive. 2. From the DOS prompt, change to the disk drive in which you inserted the disk. For example, type A: and press the ENTER key; if you are using a disk drive other than A, substitute the appropriate character. 3. From the prompt, type README and press the ENTER key. System Requirements Disk Backup To use the Blaster CD 8x CD-ROM drive and the Creative software, you need: q An IBM-compatible 386 or above q 900 kilobytes (KB) of available space on your hard disk drive q MS-DOS version 6.0 or later q Microsoft Windows 95, or Windows 3.1 or later q Available 16-bit expansion slot (for IDE interface card) q Available 5.25” half-height drive bay (for CD-ROM drive) q Speakers or headphones Before you start, make a backup copy of the original disk.
