Installing the Blaster CD 8x with an Audio Card The instructions that follow require that the CD-ROM drive and an audio card be installed. If you have not installed the Blaster CD 8x, do so before continuing (see “Installing the Blaster CD-ROM Drive” earlier in this chapter for instructions). See the documentation for your audio card for information concerning the audio cable connection. If you have an IDE audio card installed, you may be able to connect the audio card directly with the CD-ROM drive without using the interface card or hard disk controller. However, if the audio card does not have plug-and-play capabilities, the software installation instructions for Windows 95 in Chapter 2, “Installing the Blaster CD 8x Software,” do not apply. See your audio card documentation for more information. Connecting Audio Cable to an Audio Card You can connect the Blaster CD 8x to an IDE audio card for audio CD capabilities by using the CD-ROM interface card or hard disk controller. If you have not installed the CD-ROM drive and audio card, do so before proceeding (see “Installing the Blaster CD 8x” earlier in this chapter). To connect your audio card to the CD-ROM drive: 1. Follow the instructions for installing the CD-ROM drive with the hard disk controller or interface card. Installing the Blaster CD 8x 1-9
