NEEPCO have been signed. PIB note has<br />
been circulated and the major works <strong>of</strong> the<br />
project are proposed to be started after<br />
obtaining investment approval.<br />
Tipaimukh H.E. Project (1500 MW)-<br />
Manipur : This Project was initially<br />
investigated by CWC and then by<br />
Brahmaputra Board. It has been handed over<br />
to NEEPCO for execution. MOU with the<br />
Govt. <strong>of</strong> Manipur has been signed. The<br />
revised DPR prepared by NEEPCO at a cost<br />
<strong>of</strong> Rs.5163.86Crs.was Techno -<br />
v)<br />
Economically cleared by CEA on 02.07.03.<br />
Pre – PIB meeting held on 13.08.03. Pre –<br />
qualifying <strong>of</strong> Bidders through International<br />
competitive Bidding (ICB) is under finalisation.<br />
Based on the decision arrived at during the<br />
Pre- PIB meeting and subsequent meetings<br />
held in <strong>Ministry</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Power</strong>, an estimate for<br />
Stage – II activities for infrastructure<br />
development at a cost <strong>of</strong> Rs.157.00Crs. has<br />
been submitted to CEA on 22.12.03.Various<br />
formalities to obtain remaining statutory<br />
clearances are under way.<br />
TUIVAI H.E. PROJECT (210 MW) -<br />
MIZORAM:<br />
The proposed Tuivai H.E. Project is located<br />
in Aizwal district <strong>of</strong> Mizoram. The project<br />
comprises <strong>of</strong> construction <strong>of</strong> a 155 M.high<br />
Rock-fill Dam across the Tuivai river. The<br />
impounded water is proposed to be taken<br />
by one 4.95 km. Long HRT <strong>of</strong> 6 M. dia. to<br />
a surface <strong>Power</strong> House located in the right<br />
bank <strong>of</strong> the river with installation <strong>of</strong> 3 (three)<br />
units <strong>of</strong> 70 MW each. The project was<br />
initially investigated by CWC. All statutory<br />
clearances, including Forest and<br />
Environmental clearance, from MOEF & GOI<br />
have been received. TEC for the project has<br />
also been accorded by CEA on 19/02/99.<br />
Pre- construction activities like development<br />
<strong>of</strong> infrastructural facilities and detailed survey<br />
and investigation works are in progress.<br />
Telecommunication system on the project<br />
site has been established. The 2nd stage<br />
proposal under the 3 stage clearance<br />
procedure for the Hydro Project is under<br />
examination. The Project is envisaged to<br />
be completed within a period <strong>of</strong> 66 months<br />
from the date <strong>of</strong> investment approval.<br />
NEW SCHEMES FOR EXECUTION:<br />
The following new schemes have been identified<br />
for execution as Central Sector Projects by<br />
NEEPCO:<br />
1. LOWER KOPILI H.E. PROJECT (150 MW)<br />
- ASSAM : The proposed Lower Kopili H.E.<br />
Project is located in N.C. Hills district <strong>of</strong><br />
Assam. The proposal comprises <strong>of</strong><br />
construction <strong>of</strong> a 71.35 M. high concrete<br />
gravity Dam across the Kopili river in the<br />
down stream <strong>of</strong> the Kopili <strong>Power</strong> station.<br />
The impounded water is proposed to be lead<br />
through a 6.8 M dia. (Horse shoe) and<br />
3.56Km long Head Race Tunnel to a semiunder<br />
ground <strong>Power</strong> House with installation<br />
<strong>of</strong> 3 (three) units <strong>of</strong> 50 MW each. Presently<br />
Hydro-meteorological investigation <strong>of</strong> the<br />
project is being continued.<br />
i) Feasibility Report submitted to the CEA<br />
during the month <strong>of</strong> Oct’2002. Based on<br />
this, CEA accorded commercial viability <strong>of</strong><br />
the project in Feb’03.<br />
ii) Notification under Section 18A <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Electricity (Supply) act 1948 has been<br />
obtained on 18/10/2002 from MOP. The<br />
MOU with the Govt. <strong>of</strong> Assam for execution<br />
<strong>of</strong> the project and other statutory clearances<br />
required for granting TEC could not be<br />
obtained yet. Estimate for 2nd Stage activities<br />
has been cleared by CEA on 30.09.03 for<br />
an amount <strong>of</strong> Rs.15.11Crs.<br />
2. RANGANADI H.E. PROJECT -STAGE-II<br />
(130 MW) - ARUNACHAL PRADESH : This<br />
Project is located 10KM upstream <strong>of</strong> the<br />
present Ranganadi Diversion Dam. The<br />
Project envisages construction <strong>of</strong> a 134M<br />
high concrete Dam with installed capacity<br />
<strong>of</strong> 130MW. The commercial viability <strong>of</strong> the<br />
project has been established based on<br />
feasibility report submitted by NEEPCO in<br />
Oct’ 02. 2nd Stage estimate for infrastructure<br />
development cleared by CEA on 11.02.03<br />
for an estimated cost <strong>of</strong> Rs.15.37Crs. and<br />
NEEPCO has submitted the proposal to<br />
<strong>Ministry</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Power</strong> for necessary approval<br />
and meeting held on 03.09.03.Memorendum<br />
for approval <strong>of</strong> Stage – II activities submitted<br />
to <strong>Ministry</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Power</strong>, sanction <strong>of</strong> which is<br />
awaited. Pre- construction activities and<br />
infrastructure development under the 2nd stage clearance are continued.<br />
3. DIKRONG H .E. PROJECT (2 X 55 MW =<br />
110 MW) , ARUNACHAL PRADESH:<br />
This is a run <strong>of</strong> the river scheme which<br />
envisages utilisation <strong>of</strong> discharge <strong>of</strong> Dikrong<br />
River together with additional tail water<br />
discharge <strong>of</strong> 60 Cumecs from Hoz <strong>Power</strong><br />
House <strong>of</strong> RHEP Stage – I. The Project<br />
comprises <strong>of</strong> a Dam on river Dikrong at<br />
6Km down stream <strong>of</strong> Hoz <strong>Power</strong> House.
