Income Tax Act, 1961. The total amount mobilized<br />
from the market during the year 2003-04 was<br />
Rs.4010 crore which included Rs. 1363 crore by<br />
way <strong>of</strong> Capital Gain Tax Exemptions Bonds, Rs.<br />
67 crore by way <strong>of</strong> Taxable Bonds, Rs. 17 Crore<br />
by way <strong>of</strong> Section 88 Infrastructure Bonds,<br />
Rs.1500 Crore <strong>of</strong> Term Loans and Rs. 440 Crore<br />
Short Term Loans(WCDL).The debt instruments<br />
<strong>of</strong> REC continued to enjoy AAA the highest<br />
rating assigned by CRISIL.<br />
Progress <strong>of</strong> Performance during the year 2003-<br />
2004.<br />
Sanctions<br />
REC’s financing is now mainly focused on<br />
investments in rural electrification programme<br />
relating to electrification <strong>of</strong> unelectrified villages/<br />
hamlets/dalit bastis, load development in already<br />
electrified areas, system strengthening/<br />
augmentation for improving the quality <strong>of</strong> supply &<br />
bringing in efficiency in distribution systems and<br />
also generation projects. The Corporation, during<br />
the current year, has sanctioned 1322 projects<br />
involving a loan assistance <strong>of</strong> Rs. 15978 crore.<br />
Disbursements<br />
REC has disbursed till the end <strong>of</strong> 31st March, 2004<br />
an amount <strong>of</strong> Rs. 6017 crore for RE Schemes,<br />
system strengthening, intensive electrification <strong>of</strong><br />
already electrified areas, energisation <strong>of</strong> pumpsets<br />
and also for various generation projects.<br />
Kutir Jyoti Programme<br />
During the year 2003-04, under the Govt. <strong>of</strong> India’s<br />
Kutir Jyoti programme being channelized through<br />
REC, implementing agencies have reported release<br />
<strong>of</strong> 5.09 lakh single point light connections to the<br />
households <strong>of</strong> rural poor below poverty line, and a<br />
sum <strong>of</strong> Rs.60.44 crore has been drawn as grant.
