7. Loktak Downstream HE Project (3x30<br />
MW), Manipur<br />
Loktak Downstream HE Project (90 MW) is<br />
located in Tamenglong District <strong>of</strong> Manipur. It is<br />
a run <strong>of</strong> the river scheme to utilize the discharges<br />
<strong>of</strong> the Loktak <strong>Power</strong> Station that is in operation<br />
since March,84. The Project will yield benefits<br />
<strong>of</strong> 7 hours <strong>of</strong> peaking power daily and an annual<br />
energy generation <strong>of</strong> 420.25 million units in a<br />
90% dependable year. It was sanctioned in<br />
December 1999 for a cost <strong>of</strong> Rs. 578.62 crores<br />
including IDC <strong>of</strong> Rs. 46.95 crores (at April 1999<br />
price level) and was scheduled to be completed<br />
by December 2008.<br />
8. Parbati HE Project, Stage-II (4x200 MW),<br />
H.P<br />
Parbati HE Project stage-II on river Parbti ( a<br />
tributary to Beas River) in Kullu district is a run<br />
<strong>of</strong> the river scheme. River diversion have been<br />
achieved in November,2003. Execution <strong>of</strong> adits<br />
for HRT, <strong>Power</strong> house completed.<br />
9. Sewa HE Project Stage-II (3x120 MW),<br />
H.P<br />
CCEA clearance was accorded by Govt. <strong>of</strong> India<br />
on 09.09.03. The Civil Works Lot-I - Diversion<br />
Tunnel, C<strong>of</strong>fer Dams, Concrete gravity Dam,<br />
Desilting Chambers, HRT & other associated<br />
works have been awarded on 9.9.2003.<br />

1. Koel Karo HE Project (710 MW),<br />
Jharkhand.<br />
The project was sanctioned in Nov. 91. However,<br />
due to local resistance regarding R&R issue,<br />
land acquisition and paucity <strong>of</strong> fund, the work<br />
on this project could not be taken up. CCEA<br />
note for the third revised cost estimate was<br />
returned by CCEA for getting final approval from<br />
MOEF and consent <strong>of</strong> beneficiary states for<br />
purchase <strong>of</strong> power. CAT plan was approved by<br />
MOEF in Nov. 2000 & Govt. <strong>of</strong> Jharkhand had<br />
submitted the revised R&R plan.<br />
The issues to be resolved with State Govt before<br />
starting the projects are:<br />
Fresh survey <strong>of</strong> project affected people<br />
through Land Acquisition & Rehabilitation<br />
Directorate.<br />
Signing <strong>of</strong> PPA with Govt. <strong>of</strong> Jharkhand.<br />
2. Kishenganga HE Project (330 MW), J&K<br />
CEA has issued Techno-Commercial Appraisal vide<br />
letter dated 06.08.2003 at Jan 2003 price level.<br />
3. Chamera (Stage-III) HE Project (231 MW),<br />
Himachal Pradesh<br />
Feasibility report was submitted by NHPC and<br />
Commercial Viability has been established by<br />
CEA vide letter dated 7.9.2001. MOEF has<br />
accorded site clearance stage –I & II in October<br />
2001 & December 2001 respectively. DPR<br />
submitted to CEA on 19.6.2003 for Techno-<br />
Economic Clearance. CEA has issued Techno<br />
Economic clearance on 10.10.2003. Development<br />
<strong>of</strong> infrastructure is in progress.<br />
4. Parbati –III HE Project (520 MW), H.P.<br />
Feasibility report has been submitted by NHPC<br />
and Commercial Viability has been established<br />
by CEA vide letter dated 17.9.2001. MOEF has<br />
accorded site clearance stage-I & II in December<br />
2000 & March 2002 respectively. DPR submitted<br />
to CEA on 08.08.2003 and CEA has accorded<br />
TEC on 12.11.2003. Development <strong>of</strong> infrastructure<br />
is in progress.<br />
5. Uri HE Project Stage – II (240 MW), J&K<br />
Feasibility report has been submitted by NHPC<br />
and Commercial Viability has been established<br />
by CEA vide letter dated 2.8.2001. MOEF has<br />
accorded site clearance stage – I & II in August<br />
2001. DPR was submitted to MOP vide our letter<br />
dated 29.8.2003 for accord <strong>of</strong> Techno-Economic<br />
Appraisal. TEA meeting was held on 25.11.2003<br />
and TEA letter issued vide letter dated 11.02.04.<br />
6. Chutak HE Project (44MW), J&K<br />
Feasibility Report has been submitted by NHPC<br />
and Commercial Viability has been established<br />
by CEA vide letter dated 15.9.2003. Site<br />
Clearance Stage – I & II has been accorded by<br />
MOEF vide letter dated 1.11.2001 & 9.10.2003<br />
respectively. Stage- II Cost Estimate for<br />
preparation <strong>of</strong> DPR and taking up infrastructure<br />
development has been recommended by CEA to
