SATLUJ JAL VIDYUT NIGAM<br />
Since the inception in 1989, 87 females have<br />
been recruited at various executive / non -<br />
executing levels in the Corporation. At present,<br />
the strength <strong>of</strong> the women employee is 58 which<br />
comprises <strong>of</strong> 16 Executives and 42 Non-<br />
Executives. Their present strength accounts for<br />
about 10% <strong>of</strong> the total work force <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Corporation. It is ensured that women employees<br />
get adequate representation in various activities<br />
/ programmes in the Corporation. In the year<br />
1997, a Women Cell has been setup in the<br />
Corporation with the objective <strong>of</strong> promoting<br />
awareness among women employees about their<br />
rights and their all round development. This cell<br />
is being headed by a female employee <strong>of</strong> the<br />
rank <strong>of</strong> an executive in the middle level<br />
management. This Cell is functioning effectively<br />
since then.<br />
THDC<br />
The Women Cell set up as per the recommendation<br />
<strong>of</strong> the National Commission <strong>of</strong> Women looks after<br />
the welfare <strong>of</strong> the women employees in the<br />
Corporation and it facilitates the redressal <strong>of</strong> their<br />
grievances. Special efforts were made to impart<br />
training to the women employees exclusively for<br />
their overall enhancement.<br />
DVC<br />
The Corporation has in its employment large<br />
number <strong>of</strong> women employees working almost at<br />
all levels <strong>of</strong> hierarchy. During the FY 03-04<br />
fresh appointment <strong>of</strong> women as detailed below<br />
was made :<br />

Gr. ‘D’ - 7<br />
Total 51 Nos.<br />
All Sports & Games facilities are extended to<br />
women employees and they are encouraged to<br />
take part in competition <strong>of</strong> Sports & Cultural events.<br />
All statutory facilities like maternity and other<br />
benefits are extended to the women employees.<br />
Complaint Committee (s) to address complaints<br />
<strong>of</strong> sexual harassment <strong>of</strong> women employees at<br />
working place function at different establishments<br />
<strong>of</strong> the Corporation.<br />
BBMB<br />
BBMB is a statutory body set up under the Punjab<br />
Re-organisation Act. 1966 to carry out the functions<br />
<strong>of</strong> operation and maintenance <strong>of</strong> Bhakra Nangal<br />
and Beas Projects Staff for the operation &<br />
maintenance <strong>of</strong> BBMB works is provided by the<br />
Partner State Govts / State Elecy. Boards on<br />
transfer basis. However, in the event <strong>of</strong> inability or<br />
partner State Govts./ State Elecy. Boards, BBMB<br />
resorts to direct recruitment in respect <strong>of</strong> Grade<br />
‘III’ & ‘IV’ employees only. BBMB is following the<br />
reservation policy <strong>of</strong> Punjab Govt. issued from time<br />
to time. Due representation is being given to the<br />
Women employees as per policy <strong>of</strong> Punjab Govt.<br />
CPRI<br />

Women cell in CPRI is functioning since 1997 to look after the welfare activities <strong>of</strong> woman employees (totalling<br />
to 88 and constitute 11.26% <strong>of</strong> total employees strength). The initiative taken by the woman cell includes<br />
running <strong>of</strong> creche satisfactory for last 5 years for the employees children and grievance redressal <strong>of</strong> the<br />
woman employees <strong>of</strong> the Institute. As part <strong>of</strong> the Awareness Program a technical lecture on “Career Development<br />
and Women” by Smt. Manju Dhoundiyal, Faculty, National Institute <strong>of</strong> Public Co-operation & Child Development,<br />
Banglore, was organised on 7th January 2004.<br />
NPTI<br />
12% employees <strong>of</strong> NPTI are women. During 2003-04 three women employees have been promoted to the<br />
posts <strong>of</strong> Asstt. Director (Admn.), Section Officer (Admn.) and Steno. Gr.III respectively.
