SJVNL<br />
Reservation Policy <strong>of</strong> Govt. <strong>of</strong> India for SC/ST/<br />
OBC in the matters <strong>of</strong> employment has been<br />
duly implemented in SJVN. As on 31st March,<br />
2004, out <strong>of</strong> 628 total manpower on regular rolls<br />
<strong>of</strong> the organisation, the strength <strong>of</strong>SC/ST and<br />
OBC employees is 137, 29 and 64 respectively<br />
which constitutes about 37 <strong>of</strong> the total manpower<br />
strength.<br />
Responsibility <strong>of</strong> implementation <strong>of</strong> Reservation<br />
Policy functionally lies with Director (Personnel)<br />
at the Corporate level and Head <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Department at Project/Regional Offices. However,<br />
<strong>of</strong>ficers belonging to reserved category in the<br />
middle level management have been nominated<br />
as Liason Officer separately for SC/ST and OBC<br />
to supervise the implementation <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Reservation Policy.<br />
Two awareness programmes on Reservation<br />
matters were also conducted by Ex-Director,<br />
DPE, during the financial year 2003-04.<br />
THDC<br />
Govt. <strong>of</strong> India’s directives for welfare <strong>of</strong> SC/ST<br />
and OBCs has been observed in respect <strong>of</strong><br />
recruitment and others service matters. Special<br />
attention has been given for imparting training to<br />
employees belonging to SC/ST/OBCs.<br />
DVC<br />
The projects <strong>of</strong> the Corporation have been<br />
constructed in remote area in the States <strong>of</strong> West<br />
Bengal and Jharkhand. The population <strong>of</strong> the<br />
villages in and around the projects belongs to<br />
mainly SC, ST, OBC and minority category. With<br />
a view to give impetus to socio-economic<br />
upliftment <strong>of</strong> the adjacent villages, the Corporation<br />
takes up many socio-economic development<br />
programmes in villages located within a radius <strong>of</strong><br />
10 Kms. <strong>of</strong> its projects viz. Bokaro Thermal<br />
<strong>Power</strong> Station, Chandrapura Thermal <strong>Power</strong><br />
Station, Durgapur Thermal <strong>Power</strong> Station, Mejia<br />
Thermal <strong>Power</strong> Station, Maithon, Konar, Pachet<br />
and Tilaiya for welfare <strong>of</strong> the people <strong>of</strong> the area.<br />
The development programmes include<br />
infrastructural development <strong>of</strong> villages, such as<br />
construction <strong>of</strong> Roads, Culvert, Drinking water<br />
Well/Pumps/Tube well, irrigation facilities like<br />
Ponds & Wells, construction <strong>of</strong> School Building,<br />
Immunization Centre, Community building,<br />
Burning Ghat, Passenger Shelters, Microlift<br />
irrigation schemes etc. Besides, DVC also<br />
provides financial assistance and training to the<br />
rural unemployed youth for setting up <strong>of</strong> their<br />
own firms like piggeries, goateries, poultries,<br />
sewing centres, knitting wool making, fisheries<br />
etc. through income generating schemes.<br />
An amount upto 2% <strong>of</strong> the Corporation’s pr<strong>of</strong>it<br />
is allocated every year for the aforesaid<br />
developmental activities. About 317 Villages<br />
covering a large number <strong>of</strong> population belonging<br />
to SC, ST, & OBC and minority category are<br />
being covered under the said schemes.<br />
Apart from above, villagers are also provided with<br />
medical facilities, such as supply <strong>of</strong> medicine,<br />
treatment by the DVC Doctors, family planning,<br />
immunization programmes and awareness<br />
programme for prevention <strong>of</strong> deadly diseases etc.<br />
BBMB<br />
BBMB discharges its functions as laid down in<br />
Section 79(1) <strong>of</strong> the Punjab Re-organisation Act,<br />
1966 for which staff for the operation &<br />
maintenance <strong>of</strong> BBMB work is provided by<br />
partner State Govts./SEBs on transfer basis.<br />
However, in the event <strong>of</strong> inability <strong>of</strong> partner<br />
States/SEBs, BBMB resorts to direct recruitment<br />
& promotion in respect <strong>of</strong> Class III & IV
