Gravity survey<br />

Two detailed traverses were made across the lWandeloy<br />

survey area in an attempt to resolve some of the<br />

questions raised by the magnetic data. Fig. 11 shows the<br />

line of the traverses and Fig, 48 the profiles.<br />

The maximum residual anomaly revealed by the pro-<br />

files is only 0.5 mGal and quite local, implying that no<br />

Pigwe 48 Bouguer anomaly profiles from the <strong>Llandeloy</strong> area<br />

major rock mass of anomalous density underlies the area.<br />

The density measurements on borehole cores (Appendix<br />

4) show little variation within the sedimentary rocks,<br />

which gave an average of 2.79 g cm-3. Values obtained<br />

<strong>for</strong> intrusive rocks varied considerably, from 2.67 g cm-3<br />

<strong>for</strong> a porphyritic microtonalite to 2.85 g cm'3 <strong>for</strong> a<br />

quartz-microdiorite, but average 2.7 5 g ern-3. If the<br />
