If you are planning to transfer to a four-year<br />

university, consider joining the Ralph Bunche<br />

Scholars <strong>College</strong>. The Scholoars Program is<br />

designed to prepare the motivated student for<br />

transfer. The program’s enriched and rigorous<br />

curriculum challenges academically motivated and<br />

intellectually curious students. Students may have<br />

the opportunity to participate in tutoring and research.<br />

These experiences will lead beyond the community<br />

college, through the four-year school, and into the<br />

professional lives of these scholars.<br />

HOW TO JOIN: You need to have a 3.25 GPA<br />

minimum (high school or college) AND BE ELIGIBLE<br />

FOR ENGLISH 101 AND MATH 125.<br />

HOW TO CERTIFY:<br />

You must complete 18 units (6 classes) of Honors<br />

coursework with an overall 3.3 GpA.<br />

You may be considered if you meet the following requirements:<br />

• Have or will earn a high school diploma from a US high school<br />

or the equivalent education from a foreign school.<br />

• Have a score of: 450 or more on the TOEFL paper based<br />

133 computer based<br />

45 internet based<br />

or other documentation that you are proficient enough in the<br />

English language to benefit from college.<br />

• Have a valid non-immigrant visa.<br />

Effective April 12, 2002, the Immigration and Naturalization Service has issued an Interim<br />

Rule which requires students with B visas to change their visa status to either a F-1 or<br />

M-1 non-immigrant visa prior to pursuing a course of study at the <strong>College</strong>.<br />

Effective <strong>Fall</strong> 2007, International Students under F or M visa shall be charged a medical<br />

insurance fee equal to the cost of medical insurance purchased by the <strong>Los</strong> <strong>Angeles</strong><br />

Community <strong>College</strong> District on the student’s behalf.<br />
