SPEECH 060D - LISTENING AND SPEAKING LABORATORY -<br />
0.25 UNITS<br />
PREREQUISITE: Speech 60C and 73 or appropriate score on placement exam. CO-<br />
REQUISITE: Concurrent enrollment in Speech 113. Choose a section from the Speech<br />
Clinic Availability table above that matches a time you can attend the Speech Clinic for<br />
30 minutes per week. You must complete registration for this Lab Course within the<br />
first two weeks of the semester, otherwise, you will not be allowed to continue in the<br />
Co-requisite course.<br />
DESCRIPTION: A level seven laboratory course for persons who use English as a<br />
Second Language that are currently enrolled in Speech 113. Supplements usage of<br />
the most common words in English, their pronunciation practice and their usage in<br />
a speech laboratory setting. Develops skill in pronunciation of basic spoken English.<br />

concurrently with any other 3 unit Speech class. COREQUISITE: Students in Speech 72<br />

DESCRIPTION: A level five course for persons who use English as a second language.<br />
Stresses expanding vocabulary utilizing the most common English words, their<br />
pronunciation and usage, along with usage of idomatic expression, figurative language,<br />
etc. Develops skills in listening.<br />

English as a second language who may have adequate reading and grammatical skills<br />

ADVISORY: English 101 or 28 and 67 with a satisfactory grade, or appropriate placement<br />
score. ESL students are strongly advised to complete Speech Communication 111 and<br />
113 with a satisfactory grade or better. Speech 101 is a Public Speaking course which<br />
gives students techniques and practice in Informative and Persuasive extemporaneous<br />
public speaking performances utilizing effective outlining, structure and style.<br />

DESCRIPTION: A critical thinking class in logical reasoning strategies of argument and<br />
rational thinking skills to construct and analyze arguments. Meets AA degree and<br />
