PREREQUISITE: Music 200 with a satisfactory grade or better.<br />

Corequisite: Music 211 and 301. The student studies diatonic harmony including<br />

primary and secondary triads, the dominant seventh chord and their inversions. Also<br />

includes harmonizing figured and unfigured bass, simple melodies and the writing of<br />

original phrases. Students taking this class should also enroll in Music 211 and Music<br />

MUSIC 202 - HARMONY II (UC:CSU) - 3.00 UNITS<br />

PREREQUISITE: Music 201 with a satisfactory grade or better. The student studies more<br />

advanced diatonic and chromatic harmony including seventh chords, modally borrowed<br />

chords, sequences, secondary dominants and secondary diminished sevenths, simple<br />

modulations and the writing of short original compositions. Students enrolling in this<br />

class should also enroll in Music 212 and Music 302.<br />

DESCRIPTION: Study of advanced chromatic harmony and analysis. Students<br />

demonstrate skill required by harmonizing figured and unfigured bass melodies and<br />

writing short original compositions. Students enrolling in Harmony III should also enroll<br />

in Music 213 and Music 303.<br />

DESCRIPTION: This course provides instruction and practical experience in the<br />

generated scores. This course does not deal with music composition, but only with how<br />

to copy existing music in a professional manner.<br />

symbols and characters used in music manuscript. Includes computer generated<br />
