ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN 101 - FOUNDATIONS OF DESIGN I<br />
(CSU) - 3.00 UNITS<br />
First level architectural design studio. Students develop creative, conceptual and<br />
analytical skills by creating simple to complex projects. Learn to properly communicate<br />
architectural concepts through drawings, renderings, physical models, and computer<br />
3-d modeling. Fundamental architectural formal and spatial design principles, theories,<br />
order and methodologies are explored and incorporated into student projects. The<br />
profession of architecture and the practice of architects are clarified. Critical for<br />
students interested in pursuing a higher degree in architecture school or related<br />
design field. Recommended for all art and interior design related fields. Great also as<br />
a general education course to develop the creative mind. Students will also create a<br />
portfolio of their work.<br />

Prerequisite: Environmental Design 101.<br />
Second level architectural design studio. Students continue to develop creative,<br />
conceptual and analytical skills by designing more complex projects addressing<br />
multiple programmatic requirements, symbolism and contextualism. Drawing,<br />
rendering, computer and model making skills are further refined. Students will also<br />
create a portfolio of their work<br />

CO-REQUISITE: English 21 and 67 or equivalent. Students learn the scientific concepts<br />
of Nutrition in a lecture interactive format evaluating how lifestyle, diet, food/nutrition/<br />
nutrient excess and deficiencies;phytochemicals; food safety; food technology affect<br />
diseases and assessment of nutrition in human development from conception through<br />
maturity. Personal dietary assessment, synthesizing data from computerized dietary<br />
program and family tree, appraises nutritional disease risk factors. Students evaluate<br />
excesses and deficiencies and construct practices that establish and maintain a healthy<br />
lifestyle and result in a healthier mind, healthier nutritional eating practices, enhancing<br />
the spirit and nourishing the body.<br />

FOOD PREPARATION (CSU) - 3.00 UNITS<br />
ADVISORIES: English 21 and 67 or equivalent. Students are introduced to the scientific<br />
fundamentals of food preparation in both lecture and laboratory format. Scientific<br />
principles of food preparation are emphasized using current tecnology. The role of<br />
food in cultures, nutrition, and the economy are integrated into meal planning and<br />
preparation.<br />
