GOVERNmENT SUBSISTENCE:<br />

In order to qualify for full government<br />

subsistence, students must carry a minimum<br />

number of units in their program as indicated<br />

below:<br />

1. Veterans under Chapter 31: As required by the<br />

Veterans Administration counselor.<br />

2. Veterans under Chapter 30, 32, 35 and 106:<br />

12 units.<br />

3. War orphans and disability dependents under<br />

Chapter 35: 12 units.<br />

4. Veterans’ dependents (DIC) are eligible with<br />

3 units (9 hours per week).<br />

VETERAN’S ADmINISTRATION SUBSISTENCE:<br />

The Veterans Office is located in Clausen Hall<br />

109. Subsistence for Veterans is based on a<br />

12-unit load. Partial subsistence is available for<br />

veterans who enrollment in three (3) to eleven (11) units.<br />

Credits for individualized, self-paced, open-entry/openexit<br />

courses may NOT be counted as part of a student’s<br />

minimum load in qualifying for veteran benefits until the<br />

course has been completed. For more information please<br />

Second Language program at the Workforce<br />

Readiness Academy offers courses to help<br />

you explore career options, prepare to get a<br />

job, or improve English skills for your current<br />

job. Students practice correct communication<br />

for the workplace; working in a team; and<br />

other speaking, reading and writing tasks. A<br />

self-paced VESL lab is a convenient option for<br />

students who cannot attend a regular course.<br />

The lab allows you to study independently,<br />

with the guidance of an instructor, at your own<br />

speed.<br />
