SEWING MADE EASY I<br />
Develop your creativity and save money making your own clothes in a safe comfortable<br />
setting. Sewing lessons will include proper sewing machine operation, fabric selection,<br />
personal body measurements, and introduction to patterns and garments construction with<br />
basic sewing machine techniques. No prior sewing experience necessary. Open to both<br />
men and women ages 16+. Please bring: a pencil, 60” tape measure, 3 ½ yards of non-stretchable cotton<br />
fabric (no stripes or plaids), matching thread, scissors, seam ripper, hand needles and pins. Sewing<br />
machines are provided by LACC, one per student. Limited to only 10 students.<br />

Students will cover more and newer additional pattern and adjustment sewing techniques. List of materials<br />
will be issued at time of registration. Sewing machines provided by school - one student per sewing machine.<br />
Limited to only 10 students. Prerequisite: Sewing Made Easy. Be familiar with sewing machine.<br />

KNITTING - BEGINNING<br />
Open to men & women who have never knitted. Your first project will be a scarf. Instruction will be given on<br />
how to cast on, Knit, purl stitch and cast off or finish off. Patterns will be supplied by instructor. Cindy<br />
Martiné was recognized and honored by Michaels Stores nationwide.<br />
Material fee of $2 payable at time of registration.<br />
Be sure to pick up a supply list when you register. This class is limited to only 15 students.<br />

KNITTING - INTERMEDIATE<br />
This class is open for men & women who have taken beginning knitting or know how to knit. Continuing your<br />
project, instruction will be given on how to read more challenging patterns, deciphering a pattern and<br />
learning to do more detailed stitches. Students will also learn increasing & decreasing, changing colors, as<br />
well as the importance of doing gauges and using circular needles. Pattern will be provided by instructor.<br />
Be sure to pick up a supply list when you register. No supplies will be available in class. Register early to<br />
secure your place in class.<br />

FASHION PATTERN MAKING<br />
This hands-on beginner’s class will introduce you to the challenging world of fashion pattern<br />
making. Learn how to make your own 2 garments by using step by step pattern making<br />
techniques in class. Requirements: Must know how to read a ruler, be willing to do some<br />
homework and to produce a fabric test with very slight sewing. Class is open to men & women<br />
ages 16+. Please bring: Pencils, 60” tape measure, see-thru plastic ruler 2x18”, scissors,<br />
3 ½ yards of muslin fabric, eraser, scotch tape. Register early for this popular class.<br />

DESIGN YOUR OWN CLOTHES<br />
Learn how to design clothes by using your creativity and various sources of inspiration. Learn how to do “flat<br />
Sketching”, full dimensional figures” and how to draw apparel with specific details. This class is for someone<br />
who has an interest in Fashion Sketching as a hobby or would like to be a future designer or as an<br />
Entrepreneur. Class covers seasons, themes, color story, categories, fabrics, trimmings, some costing,<br />
salability and organization of a “line”. Class will end with the Designer’s Board Presentation. Ages 16+.<br />
Please bring the following materials to 1st meeting of class: 15 Sheets of typing paper, drawing and<br />
color pencils, eraser, and clear see-thru 18” inch ruler. At the first class meeting the instructor will<br />
address any additional materials for your class projects.<br />
